Thanks folks. Just getting back from teh 2003 Sven's Ab-Grab and firing up the 'puter here to put words to the screen...

Purple heart is a tropical hardwood, naturally that color- no dyes. It's hella expensive, a bitch to work with and tough to find a piece suitable for this application. It's most often seen in parquetry floors and decorative boxes... The gun is slightly less than 1-1/4 thick wnd the reliefs and round-overs at the corners really take away a bunch more material. This fits my paws as nice as any gun I've held or built. The narrow taper too adds to it's mobility and combined with a 14" offset to the handle, I figure it ought to move through the water prett nicely. It worked well in pool tests anyways.

As for launching axles, I'm hoping to be able to find something big enough to send a 3/8" shaft through right now. The plans are mostly between my ears but generally follow those from Steve Alexander with changes made to fit my needs and size.
