Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and have a question for all you divers out there. Do any of you take selfies while diving? If so, I'd love to hear about the equipment or techniques you use to capture those moments. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Honestly, I just hold my camera out at arm's length and snap the pix. I've got a dozen or so over the years.

If I'm with a dive buddy and want a larger shot, the Dive Master is usually happy to take the picture.

Cheers!

Thank you all for your responses! It seems like most of you either point the camera at yourself or have a diving buddy take the photo. I've seen people using selfie sticks, but I'm a bit nervous about carrying one while diving. I'm looking for a way to capture myself and the surrounding scenery in the shot, without using a selfie stick. Any suggestions?

In that case, I'd advice a dive buddy who can operate the camera.

Now my muck stick has a threaded top so technically I guess I could thread a camera onto it and stick it in the sand. Put it on the timer and then get myself into the frame. It's be real hit or miss but it's a possibility.

but honestly, a buddy is the best bet.

No, don't carry a selfie stick underwater. :)

Cheers! :)

I effortlessly hold the GoPro camera with both hands and capture myself on video without any issues. The selfies turn out quite well.
