Anybody has tryed this mask?? seems to be OK...i´m thinking in buying one, because i cant find a sphera here...

Yes, I had one- just take a look at my avatar picture to see what it looks like.

It has the same skirt as the Sphera, but with glass lenses. It is stronger than the sphera, but still can't take the abuse that any of my OMER masks can. Mine finally broke, the lens frame cracked, and I decided not to replace it- I, now, use a Sphera for deeper dives and an OMER alien for spearfishing. The maks also seems to fit a wider face better than a narrow one- which I have so it worked out just fine. It also has a higher internal volume than a Sphera and doesn't compress down as much- due to the rigid frame.

I have had one for about 4 years. Mine has plastic lenses, but seems to stand up to abuse just fine. Comfortable and decent vision. My only complaint is that it starts to leak a little when I've been more than 3 days without shaving. My face is not very wide.

If it has plastic lenses, it must be the Sphera not Falco. These two masks look almost identical.

Hi Ale.

I have also Falco and I'm satisfied. Only one thing which hinder me is that I cannot smile too much under water - water gets inside because of wrinkles on my face. But - it might not be problem of the mask itself but my face topography.

Must be slightly different versions of the falco. My lenses are definately plastic, looks like speepecks, and says "Falco" on the frame.

Is it just me or does this mask distort vision ? Tried it today for just 5 min and my eyes started to hurt from how weird everything looked when compared to my prehistoric CressiSub Aquarius i've been using for 15 years. Can any owner of this mask share his/hers experience ? Please tell me i'm just nuts so i don't have to buy another mask :t

Yes it is - but don't worry - you will be used to it after some more dives.

Oh crap, i guess more money down the drain 'cause it should have been used for spearfishing. Tnx for the quick respond Ragman.

I haven't tried the falco but shape meant to be similar to the sphera. Have had a few spheras, they are great masks (I actually really like them for pool training!) but I can confirm too that I don't use it for depth much because it leaks with small face movements (I have a narrow face by the way).

Why don't you get the micromask instead of the falco. It's an excellent mask and has more chances of fitting your face I think if you have to buy a mask without trying it...

The Sphera distorts vision, but the Flaco was always crystal clear where I used it. My new favorite mask is the Mircomask from Technisub/Aqualung.

Jon

Looks like we posted at the same time about the micromask Jon ;-)

...

I have a few Spheras, and while they fit me fine, my partner has a narrow face and gets leaks with them.

I think you need to have a more average face shape for the Sphera/Falco/Seal to fit.

OTOH, she has a Cressi Minima which she loves, and it never leaks on her, but it also fits me without leaking.

Sphera distorts vision but it is very compressible, you can go down to 30m without equalizing her. Its the best deep freediving mask.

Falco is the same mask as Sphera but with glass crystal. Vision is crystal clear but you need to equalize her much earlier than sphera.

I have both and I use non of them!

dimitri from your other posts too I bet your house looks like a mask/goggle museum, you got tonnes man

That is correct Simos!

As far as I remember, I have two spheras, one falco, one minima, one superocchio, one lince, one flow, one balco (old fashion with the big glass like a wide tv!), one seal goggles (transformed in pipe mask), two Galileo goggles (one transformed in pipe mask), one Cobra goggles and various arena swimming pool goggles plus a nice set of 4 different wooden goggles and another is coming up.

Among all of the above, I found best the Galileo goggles setup with trygons noseclip. Its the best swallow (upto 10m) dive/snorkeling setup. Crystal clear vision, hands free equalization and better dive response due to the fresh water on face. For deeper dives the same setup with the Galileo in pipe mask mode is the way to go.

There is a specific reason to have bought all of them during the last years.

Its not a fortune though but I might consider making a musuem at my 60's :t :t.

So Dimitris am i to understand that in your experience Falco does not distort the vision under the water in any way ? if that is the case i'll give it a try a few more times before i go and buy (a not very cheap i might add) Micromask.

That is correct. Falco does not distort vision underwater. It has nice flat glass goggles and in my opinion it cups little better than sphera on face if you are well shaved!

Ofcourse it is a matter of different faces but you can do the cup test on the shop. The "First try then buy" principle applies here too.

The Falco has been my primary freediving mask for 6 or 7 years. Never noticed any distortion issues. For me it has two issues I'd like to fix, leaks with 4 days worth of beard and less than totally comfortable for all day wear. It is a good low volume mask with decent side to side field of vision, but poor down vision.
