So Dimitris am i to understand that in your experience Falco does not distort the vision under the water in any way ? if that is the case i'll give it a try a few more times before i go and buy (a not very cheap i might add) Micromask.

I hear you and I think you'll probably be happy with the falco as it sounds like a pretty good mask but if at all possible for you, I would advice to choose the right mask rather than trying the falco first because it's cheaper.

Only saying this because many times where I made a decision based on price and went for the cheaper option, in the end I ended up buying the more expensive one too a few months after.

Also, and this might not apply to falco. since you mentioned the sphera: it is an excellent mask but you need to factor in to the cost that you will have to replace it more often than say the micromask. Mainly because the lenses do scratch but for my old sphera, I also had to replace the strap (after about a year and a half of using it once a week)

SOME Spheras have about a 1.5 -1.8 diopter correction - making them the cheapest prescription masks on earth. However - some of the newer ones seem to have nearly no correction - except on the peripheries. Hands down my favorite mask but they are fragile. Hence I have devised a couple of repair options - at least one of which has stood up to the test of time.

I've not used the falco - but for a glass mask I'd rather have some downward vision - hence Micromask or Sporasub mystic.

I think you didn't read my original question. I already own a Falco and when i tried it for the 1st time underwater my vision looked distorted, but if the guys who are using it for years say it doesn't distort, than i guess i'll have to try it a few more times before i throw it in the trash and buy another mask (probably Micromask or cheaper but i think still good enough Omer Alien).

Oops my bad, I got confused and thought you had started this thread, didn't realise it was started in 2006! Lol

Well, in this case my answer changes: the falco is great, you'll get used to it, it'll be fine lol

Seriously I know lots of people complain about the sphera too (which i am sure is worse in terms of distortion) but I got used to it soon after using it...

Hi Bleeth,

The Falco does have flat (planar) lenses, and for that reason it has a lot less 'distortion' than the Sphera, which has curved leses.

I find, though, that the brain does a curious thing, and with the Sphera, after I've been underwater with it for a while, my brain compensates for the optics, and I get the feeling that I'm looking at a clear, smooth field of view.

You may find that if you use it for a while the problems will clear up. Also, I have had masks that look like they're distorting or creating double vision sometimes, but after a bit of practice putting them on so they seat without twisting, or whatever makes them fit better, the issue goes away.

I would recommend playing with it for a while and see if the view seems to improve.
