That was sneaky - New European recreational bass fishing rules

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Oh yes! It did get raised on another thread here but talk about a lack of publicity! If stocks need protection then its all good in my book............................. but lets get real, all the time commercial fisheries are taking fish, hitting the angler and spearfisher is going to make a very negligible difference, if any at all. I think the way society views fish is the real problem, if I eat fish I have donned my wetsuit and actually gone into the fishes world with the risks that entails and if I do get a fish, I have killed it myself. Now you can get so many species of fish anytime of the year, that you can eat without giving a single thought to how it was caught, what the bycatch was, what the stock levels are, in fact you don't have to think at all!! I feel that until the human world as a whole raises a notch in its understanding that the sea is not an infinite resource, worldwide stocks will continue to plummet. To me the classic stuff is like swordfish and tuna, what right have I got to eat it, in my mind absolutely none. I have made absolutely no effort to catch it so I don't eat it, hey but that's just me, i'm a bit weird like that ;) I try and go by the karmic food principle, which to me means that I only eat what I am prepared to kill. Wouldn't it be funny if the politicians who sort out the quota levels are having Bass for dinner....................... I bet they are you know and call me paranoid but I bet they didn't catch it themselves!! ;)

Are there any petitions going on to get this debated in parliment? Surely if all uk sea anglers and spearos signed up we could get it to the required 100k mark quite easily.
