10. Least Dressed Award: - (all team members ruled this one out)

9. Worst Piece of Dive Equipment: - (early candidates included, "All natural camel saliva defog" and the "Omer lead impregnated Bat fins that eliminate the need for a weight belt")

8. Most Egomaniacal Diver: - (most team leaders agreed that Jon was a shoe in)

7. Biggest Lie Award: - (team members agreed that the spearfishing members had an unfair advantage)

6. Most Words Used Without Truly Saying Anything of Substance: - (there would have been far too many nominations)

5. Funniest Photo Award: - (actually, .......they should have had this one)

4. Longest Member: - (too many people misunderstood the correct context of this one, and it was to be changed to, "Most Years Affiliated")

3. Best Underwater Interpretive Dance: - (must be filmed and scored with music by Yanni)

2. Most Self Inflicted Spearfishing Wounds: - (not enough nominees, however, there are at least three members that still have pieces of dyneema and kevlar in their bodies)

1. Sexiest Hood Award: - (the look of a hood squeezing your face enough to resemble a mullet with grouper lips just wasn't cutting it)

1) Most over inflated ego of the year award (male)
2) Flirt of the year award (male and female)
3) Most B******S piece of advice given to a newbie award
4) Person who dug up and re-animated the most old, boring threads we never wanted to see again award
5) Most thinly veiled personal attacks on other members award
6) Most unnecessarily aggressive replies to a thread award

By no means is my humor intended to cast a shadow of doubt on the integrity of these awards.

Many, many of DeeperBlue.net's good souls put forth zealous efforts to help better those around them, and for nothing more than knowing they are helping those which share the common social thread of diving.

Our recognitition of those who give greatly, and a few spoils to boot, are only appropriate for them.

I am not sure how well this will translate to those of us who reside outside of the U.S.A., but here in the states we like to say ............................ ROCK THE VOTE!!!

Our input is essential!

We mustn't forget the sponsers for the awards, their extreme generosity is very much apreciated by everybody Im sure, for without them this wouldnt be happening.

.................I feel that we should acknowledge the person who has been actively part of the forum from the beginning in 1996 and for the most number of years.

The "Longest Member Award" would be a larger than usual wall plaque of honorable distinction that most forum participants would be proud to have hanging.

I am sure the award would be bestowed only upon someone who's years have been in our community a length of no less than 8 and most likely a full 9.
