The Dessault Quattro Classic 75cm Speargun

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Now since the discussion has turned to wishbones, I've come into this information:
Omer has retired from shops it's "tahitian wishbone" because it tends to break quite easily. It splits in two.
Omer apologizes to its customers, and says the item has been retired from commerce, but there could be some of them still in shops somewhere in the world.
Just don't buy it:
Omer

do you feel that since omer's breaks that the problem is with the design of tahitian wishbones, so would also affect maybe other manufacturers? you think that since the italians couldnt get it right then nobody will :):):):):) just pulling your leg spaghi..
i find Beuchat quite a good brand in general, they sell all their guns with the beuchat tahiti as standard. Pedro Carbonell uses it on his gun as well, sponsored by Beuchat of course..;)
i wish i could get sponsored by someone :)God knows i bought my fair share, i deserve some freebies :):)

I defiantly like the idea of dynema & shark fin spears but I am quite happy using articulated metal wishbones with my standard euro gun & spear set up.
In 35 years of spearfishing I can only remember two that have broken while loading my gun & one of those was a plain old wire type however you do need to check them for fatigue or rust.

Nothing to do with us brits being cool enough with half a dozen elastic bands from the local stationary shop? :)

Cor blimey it even comes signed rofl

I changed over to dynema on my Quattro Carbone after seeing 1 shots articulated wishbone snap and cut one of his 18mm cressi rubbers clean in half(an this was on a night dive):naughty

The Dessault guns come with an articulated wishbone and i have used Picasso dynema wishbones as they only cost £1.40 ea.The Dessault rubbers are awesome and i may purchase some palin ones to try and rig true dynema wishbones.

The shark fin spears also make loading very easy but they do need to be smoothed off for use with dynema.

just noticed that cressi also made a tahitian wishbone, could this be the new IN thing for euro companies ?

Nice looking/spec. gun Podge/Glowworm.

Re. wishbones, I think OMD said he had one that was still going strong after 13 years. I went through 3 or 4 dyneema wishbones last year, although they can last a couple of years. I was going to say Spearo Dave sells SA dyneema wishbones - but apparently he doesn't, could have sworn I'd seen them on his website.

Pastor, would be interested to know how you rig the toggle/beads of your wish bones. Looks like those loops are made from some pretty hefty mono. Rabitech offer some cool metal toggles* that protrude from the rubber allowing you to tie in your own Dyneema. RA offer some two strand wishbones (instant spare!) - never seen them for sale in the UK though, I guess you could tie your own.

If anybody is sourcing 16mm Dessault bulk rubber, I'd be interested in getting a couple of metres. Always preferred 16mm rubber and the Dessault rubber sounds kick-ass. (Yes the RA 16mm rubber is good - if you can get it. The european distributor didn't have any last time I tried & more recently didn't have 20mm. Apnea carry Omer bulk rubber.)

BTW Would it be gauche to ask how much the Quattro costs (a crude estimate measured in body parts would probably be sufficient;)).

*Orcas also sell a plastic version, 4 per kit + dyneema to make the bands - particularly handy if you use double rubbers & presumably lighter too, although perhaps less robust? (I plan to re-use the toggles from my other wishbones -- I already use one on my knife...then noticed Pelaj use the exact same toggle on theirs!

Here you go, you could equally use a knotted dyneema loop or one with a bead on too. but I just like the stiffness of the mono if I need to change wishbones in the water
