Rejoice, Rejoice for we are blessed.
We have gone diving today.
So many places the creator has made,
seemingly just for us.
Unlikely holes in the midst of a swamp,
deep, air-clear and still.
Sunbeams descending into the deep
beckon us, “Come and see”
Ride those beams to 100 feet,
turn and look up to see
a stairway to heaven with God at the top.
the angels are divers today.
Bright colored coral, myriads of fish
schools beyond count all around
They take no notice of us in their midst
while we sink down a wall of the reef.
Deep clear blue out in the abyss
depth beyond our kin.
A line descends in the darkening blue
the plate and our goal out of sight
A special place to store in our souls
shared only with tuna and light.
Dark northern waters so full of life
riches found nowhere else
Tarshis, Whitecastle, Ames Wall, many more
beckon us on and on.
So many places to see on this globe
where only divers may go
Rejoice and be thankful you lucky few
for you are freedivers today.
