A bit of background - I'm in the Australian air force, and I do a lot of training in the pool at the base here.

Today I was practising as per normal down in the pool, when one of the PTI's (Physical Training Instructors) came up to me, and told me that if I passed out underwater, I'd be at risk of losing my job. Apparently Shallow Blackout, or any kind of BO for that matter, is classed by the defence force as a 'self inflicted wound', which you can be charged for. According to the PTI, this charge is very serious, because self inflicted wounds can prevent you from performing any duties you might have to do.

So yeah, that kinda provides me with a bit of extra incentive not to pass out :)
