Hey there, I haven't been fishing very long, so pretty much all of the fish I want to catch are elusive to me. I'd imagine that some of the hardest fish here in Greece are some of the bigger and most sought after ones. I know people hunt tuna in open water but that's something I'm not even interested in. Some fish I've seen and would like to catch are dentex, gilt-head bream. Other really sought after ones I've been lucky enough to catch, like sargos, sea bass, barracuda. I've seen some big amberjacks but I really just want to catch the best fish that I can either eat myself or give to someone.
I live in a spot mostly dominated by sand and Poseidon sea grass. Fishing was legalized today, so I'm sticking that, cause I would have to drive somewhere else to find deeper, rockier locations. But it's good for learning. Most of the fish I'm interested in come to 2-6 meter depth to hunt, and the challenge is finding a good hiding spot in the grass, undetected, when one of those fish is nearby. I found it's much more rewarding to get the techniques down and then snag a fish that way rather than surprising something in a hole.
On average, I won't see any good fish on half my dives, and I'll catch one of the good ones I see 1/3 times, so it's a challenge.
