Balance is the key

hunting the reef fish and protecting the reef sharks may in a sense lead to inbalance,Dont you think.?

How do you think this would pan out..?
Would white tips just give up and die if they could not find enough food?Or would they work even harder than before for those fish, maybe even go join a new reef with its own whitetips.

Or do you think it could be possible to lighten the pressure on the fish by taking a shark every once in a while?(that of corse would be consumed)

I don't want to step on anybodies toes here,just wanting to share my idea.

I just read my post again and realize that I must sound like a total hypocrite. I post something like this http://forums.deeperblue.com/hawaii/82619-kill-roi-days.html and then say something like this
There is a natural balance which has to be maintained and I have a hard time agreeing with anyone thinking they should change it.
:eek::blackeye

I guess the reason I justified the roi killings is that they are not a "natural invasion" but an "introduced" one nor do they help with a "natural balance"... though some may argue against that.

I think it boils down to the fact that I dont believe in senseless killing. If your being hassled by one white tip reef shark, a species very easily intimidated, one that is not good eating, and one that really poses no harm to anyone, I dont see that as a legitimate reason to kill it.

I do agree with jtkwest as far as equality of life. If your going to EAT the shark, and not just the fins, kill it. It is just another fish. Ive just seen too many people who think they are some kind of hero because they have killed a shark, let it sink to the bottom and rott, or parade it around like an olympic medal and then let it stink up some dumpster somewhere. Senseless killing really boils my blood, its wasteful and destructive.

Call it a soft spot, but I like sharks, I have had many experiences with sharks, good and bad, big and small, you want shark stories I have them, but I still firmly believe that I am a visitor in their ocean.

Yes Blaiz,When you were saying that I just could not help but think that we are in fact the invaders.
The sea can sustain this ''invasion'' perfectly if we know how to use the word ''enough''.
