Tomba - All in One barrel sealing

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
foxfish, here it is Mamba to Tovarich/TombaF (simple, easy to use) Free shaft adapter only for you :friday

I suppose this is very similar to the Tovarich in concept (I havent seen Tovarich except on the picture). The main difference is, I belive, in stainless steel bushing for lower friction during loading and better/longer having the shaft in center of the adapter (lower wearing over time), and lower friction after shooting because the O-ring should not be tight on the shaft (Tomba properties). The bushing ID is just slightly larger than the shaft OD.

I really like it - it looks very neat & tidy.
Thanks to you & your son

I have got a feedback that the latest Tomba (the slider version) is much better then the previous with the plastic ring between the cone steel ring and the O-ring (#130). So I have no more idea how to improve this system even more. The only improvement could be using titanium instead of stainless steel. Maybe I am wrong?

Well I am now the proud owner of a Tomba custom component :friday
The little conversion looks very tidy - very simple & neat = just what I wanted.
Unfortunately it is now WINTER at least it is at the moment so it could be some time until the test report.

I am surprised! It was very fast delivery! Waiting for your test and opinion.
Cheers, Tomislav

Here is the drawing of the Mamaba to TombaF adapter for 7 mm shaft so anybody could make it.

Because I suppose there are same similarities to Tovarich but also a number of differences I would like your opinion. Is this a copy of Tovarich or not? I haven't seen Tovarich before so I actually don't know. When I saw the Seatec Evo-Air for the first time I also thought it was copy of Tovarich but was it?

Hi Tromic,
good job as alws!

Suppose that the oring will be inserted from the top ?
Why there is 4 degree angle?

B/rgds,
Martin

I guessing O ring friction reduction on firing .

Cheers, Don Paul

For the free shaft as on the image above I think it is better to use the slider like on sketch B

Here is new video about Tomba

This Tomba adapter is the regular Tomba adapter. There is no additional cone inside the adapter for the O-ring so friction is same in both directions. That is because I had not proved yet that it has significant effect on the performance of the gun. That should be verified by measurement. Due to excellent centering of the shaft, O-ring to shaft friction is anyway low so it is maybe not necessary to have O-ring on the cone part of the adapter. I think this is more trouble free solution to the maybe not enough careful user. With the cone in the adapter the O-ring must be pushed with the line slider as deep as possible every time or some water might enter the barrel.

I think it is similar to Tovarich vs Evo-Air. I think Tovarich is more user friendly and user forgiving, although Evo-Air is more advanced.
Finally the 50 years old Croation gun made by Sraga Drago was functioning that way for a long time. It had same muzzle to shaft sealing as Tovarich has. I don't know how old Tovarich is but I am sure it should be much younger.

I like the fact you don't hold any secrets - it just about design, skill & machinery :king

Tomba10 with 6,5 mm shaft. O-ring is kept in place during loading or unloading movement of the shaft only by the vacuum!

This video also shows how I test the quality of muzzle to shaft sealing. If everything is OK after loading the shaft there must be a vacuum in the barrel. It is obvious there was a vacuum in this gun.
Other important fact is that the friction of the O-ring to the shaft is lower than the force of the vacuum. O-ring is all the time in the muzzle. Of course, the shaft should be polished and should have some lubrication. In the water lubrication is accomplished by the water. In the case on the video I wiped the shaft with oily cloth.
Because this Tomba adapter was a regular Tomba adapter without 4 deg cone for the O-ring it is maybe not necessary to have that cone in the adapter because the friction is anyway low. This low friction is primary thanks to the excellent centering of the shaft with the cone sliding ring. If the centering would not be so good I should make O-ring more tight and the friction would be higher.
