Tomba - All in One barrel sealing

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

Might be like this too, maybe better, but only with very light slider, not more than 1,5 g.

This slider is from Italian forum, hand made. Could be shorter. I did some photoshop work on original picture. Might be good combination with the ring on the second picture.

I would like to try new type of Tomba. After shooting O-ring is not on the shaft. I suppose it will work, but would not be very convenient for use, similar to Evo-Air. After inserting the shaft, O-ring should be pushed deeper into the adapter and than start loading the gun. After loading the gun the tip of the adapter must be unscrewed for 2,5 mm to make space for O-ring.

Here it is how it looks like, almost ready for testing Tomba7/F. I am sure it would work fine. On the picture it is a slider version. Changing the "black" plastic part it would be for free shaft too.

When this "Tomba 7/F" has the spear tail inserted for the next shot you will be relying on the rear facing angled spear tail step and the tail cone immediately behind it to realign the "O" ring and push it evenly down into the rearward seating position for vacuum loading. Before that happens and directly after the shot the "O" ring will have contracted and will be loose inside the larger diameter foremost position where an opening has been created by the unscrewed teal coloured muzzle element. It is possible that the "O" ring will tilt when sitting in that position and not sit straight in the larger diameter gap. That teal coloured muzzle element will have to remain unscrewed after the shot in order to dock the shaft tail in the piston face and only tightened up before the spear is pushed into the gun during the muzzle loading effort. Maybe you will not have to screw the teal coloured element up if a continuous push is all that is required on a shorter gun as the "O" ring will not be dragged forwards into the larger diameter gap with the gap remaining open. The teal coloured element only needs to be screwed up after the spear tail is docked in the piston on a longer gun as confining the "O" ring keeps it in the rear sealing position. The larger diameter gap needs to be re-established for the shot, which means remembering to undo the teal colored element before hunting recommences. This is an interesting design as it makes use of the "O" ring's radial step jumping capability with the shaft moving in both directions, provided that the step is small and the "O" ring is not pulled on an angle through the transition from the larger diameter gap to the smaller one.
 
The O-ring in Tomba7/F would be under even less stress than with previous Tomba12 where the O-ring had been sandwiched on the shaft. It is stretching 14 % and compressing 10 %. With Tomba12 there was compressing during sealing in adapter 8 %, and in sandwich, after shot maybe 80 % - 90 %.

This is the latest type of TombaF7, for free shaft. It is made from anodized aluminum and ertacetal.
The compression of O-ring is 10 % on loading and 4 % on shooting.

is the anodization need for aluminium parts? ( Probably it is protecting)
I think that duraluminium is not corroding or i am not right ?

Duraluminium is also susceptible to corrosion. Anodizing is good protection for any aluminum alloy. Hard anodizing, when applied, makes the surface hardness very high.

Did you try a different O-ring size I suggested to you for your vacuum system?
 
Well I am just too lazyzzz, and too often away from home.
Will take dimension of the O-rings ASAP.
I can say that dimension of the O-rings are not that important. I have used O-rings slightly different, and the system works anyway.
Actually I use this system only on short guns now.:)
For the long guns I have switched to vacuum muzzle...
... made in Ucraina! ;)
