Torbay Spots

Afternoon all,

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to being a spearo.
I live in Torquay, i bought my gun from Venture Sports in Preston last year & a chap on there pointed me in this direction.
I've probably only been spearing about 3/4 times since this time last year (slack i know)!
I've also only ever really been down to Maidencombe spearing.
I've only managed to shoot 1 fish, i shot it straight through it's body, but it managed to flip off the spear & back into the water to never be seen again!
So as you can see i'm not exactly the best spearo around!
I was looking for some advise on other good spots to go in & around Torquay?
Any advise appreciated!

Welcome to DB Lawrence. First off can I suggest you read back on some ot these threads UK & Ireland .

You will also get a better response by posting on your local area thread http://forums.deeperblue.com/devon/85251-south-devon-report-2010-a.html rather than just posting a new thread. I doubt many people will just come out and give details of good fishing spots on the open forums. However you may get some clues and with luck someone may take you under their wing and help you out. Sending PM's (private messages) will also get more answers.

Ditto what Dave has said Lawrence get yourself over to the south devon Thread

Plenty of guys on here willing to help. as for spots most of us keep them quiet as its not only spearo's who read these threads and the last thing we want is a our secret spots been plasted all over an open forum and fished to death.

I live in Paignton and can often be found out on my boat in and around Torbay so if you fancy a meetup just drop me a PM and we can sort something out

Agreed with scott and Dave there are some unsporting scuba divers around south devon so try keep your spots secret

I think their refering to commercial fishermen and poachers as opposed to scuba divers. The amount of people who spear on scuba is extremely low. As it's frowned upon by both sides of the fence. And I bet it's probably much easier to hammer a spot for fish whilst free diving than it would be using scuba. I always see more fish freediving
