I've been casually freediving/spearfishing for half a year and recently took a AIDA 2* course.

After taking the course I want to get a bit more serious and start training to improve my apnea, therefor I'm doing CO2 table, cardio workout and breathing exercises for relaxation. I will also start doing pool and water training soon to improve technique.

However I'm having real issues with my CO2 tables, I start getting contractions allready after 30-40s hold. Isn't this really weird? I haven't done much dry static, but I have a time of 1:40 with dry static and 2:50 for wet. I don't do any breath up or anything for CO2 tables, only normal breathing(breathing in stomach and then chest).

Whenever I dive I often have 50s dives without pushing, and then I'm moving around.

Is it maybe something I should do different or am I just bad?

Hope to get some wise answers as this really discourage me from training.

Well, that's quite interresting. Contractions after 30s? How does you table look like? It might be possible if your rest ist too short.

Maybe just give yourself more time to relax and stretch before the static table.

And don't worry about the difference, most people have dry statics shorter than the wet ones (in my case, 3:35 vs 5:00)
