Here's a small tip for the performance freaks....the rec and spearos will laugh, but it's a good one for those of us who spend a lot of time going up and down on a weighted line 
We like to drop the snorkels at the beginning of the dive, and a few friends have lost them when their dive buddy missed grabbing it, plus actually having to spit the snorkel out and stick it in the float takes energy and disturbs concentration.
So here's what I did while diving with immerstlug (Roland) in Egypt:
Use the old style "figure 8" snorkel keeper, but leave one of the loops free-floating; not attached to your mask.
Make sure there is 1 foot of line hanging loose off the float.
Attach a carabiner to the loose end of the line.
Attach the carabiner to the free loop on the snorkel.
Usually we have one hand hanging on to the downline, nice and close to the float, so the snorkel will be right there for you.
You don't need to have the snorkel attatched to your mask, as the bouyancy of the air in it will keep it vertical.
This works whether you dive straight from the face down position or you spit the snorkel out and turn on your back to pack, etc. The snorkel will be hanging there when you get back to the surface.
