When my buddy comes out on the boat with me for some freediving or spearfishing , he often gets sea sick cause of the roughe sea or swell. Sometimes he even feels little sick while he is swimming.

Is it dangerouse if he takes a travelling / sea sick pill before going out on the boat ? He bought non drowsiness pills but still i was worried if these pills can effect the body / mind while freediving .

Thanks for replies

I think it depends what meds you take. Mandy-Rae Cruickshank ( former record holder) suggested I take Sturgeron- it is non- prescrip. It does not make you drowsy or dehydrated as Bonine, Dramamine, and the patches do. Mandy and I both get very seasick and Sturgeron has been a life-saver.

Forget pills. The best therapy for sea-sickness, and the most healthy, is ginger. For it to work, you need high dose ginger. I recommend juicing a block of raw ginger, and take 50ml of the juice, mixed with 500ml of water and some sugar and lemon juice. You can also use club-soda or bubbly water, and it will taste like a ginger soda. Works miracles and keeps you warm too.

Interesting - any idea what substance in ginger makes the difference?

I assume you mean Stugeron (cinnarizine)

Works wonders for me. Nothing worse than starting to puke 5 mins before your OT.

Jessica used this as part of her warm up routine and dove to 65. Now she's much calmer and skips that part but only dives to 63. Seems to enjoy diving more though. LMDO (laughing my dentures out)

I've used Marazene hundreds of times and fed it to dozens of divers and fisher-persons. No adverse reaction yet.
