Twin 14mm bands with what shaft size?

I was thinking about putting two 14mm bands on my first gun, but it comes with a 6.5mm spear. I didnt know if this would be thick enough or if the 7mm would be needed?

Honestly I think a 6.5mm will be good for dual 14mm bands. I used to use a 7mm shaft on dual 16mm bands so I think 6.5mm would be ok.

I should hope so, no gun should be left loaded over night.

In answer to the original question, I think you should be fine with a 6.5mm spear. I used to use 2x 16mm bands and a 7mm spear no problem. Best bet is to try it, see how it feels and shoots in the water as it may suit your shooting technique (bent arm/straight arm, tensed/relaxed grip etc)

I should think not. Your speargun/railgun should not be loaded out of the water and should not be left loaded when not in use. Safety-catches are generally considered unsafe, "slack bands" (i.e. unloaded) is the closest thing to safe - but beware the pointy bit
