I was thinking about putting two 14mm bands on my first gun, but it comes with a 6.5mm spear. I didnt know if this would be thick enough or if the 7mm would be needed?

but I don`t leave it loaded overnight
I should think not. Your speargun/railgun should not be loaded out of the water and should not be left loaded when not in use. Safety-catches are generally considered unsafe, "slack bands" (i.e. unloaded) is the closest thing to safe - but beware the pointy bitI use a 6.5 on 2 16mm Rob allen and its no problem, but I don`t leave it loaded overnight
