Finally received the pics almost a week later. Last Thursday, Mike Montero and I took a quick hiatus from the office and ventured out to the reefs in a big slow moving yacht with some scuba passengers. We quickly veered away from the bubble blowers and made the most of one spot we knew would be our only opportunity to bring home dinner. Took home some snappers in a prelude for Saturday in the Keys...

Saturday in the Keys with the Frogman

On Saturday morning, Dumber (Montero) and I drove south towards Duck Key to shoot it up with DB member, Frogman (Angelos). His weekend getaway with his wife and son would soon feature two Cubans with their railguns. The full moon the previous night seemed to slow the fish activity, but we still managed to do very well. Angelos took two nice-sized groupers and a very attractive Mutton Snapper along with the a handful of Mangrove Snappers that were literally everywhere.

We limited out on snappers after two spots and also managed a few hogfish and several triggers. Back at the dock, the cell phones were ringing with "other halves" at the other end. Angelos had to scoot out fairly quickly without a picture with his catch. It was a beautiful day in the water with top to bottom viz in 70 feet! All worked out as planned and we thank Angelos for a wonderful day out on the reefs....

Only picture of the day....Moi with a few snapps...Enjoy!

Rolando and Mike,
Sorry I had to run without taking pics. I had a great time diving with you guys and look forward to going again. I was surprised by the number of short black grouper and small hogfish in the Keys. I hope it is a sign of good years to come.
BTW, we got checked by FWC on the water and they were pretty impressed with our railguns :hmm

Mangrove snappers, possibly the best looking and also finest tasting fish in the sea!?... brilliant to watch under water as well I think. Great photo's keep up the good work, Florida yet another place I will have to visit to spear!
