My intova IC800 cost me $200 plus tax and is an 8 megapixel camera. I got my camera at sports chalet. not sure where you live and if they have a sports chalet near you but if so its worth atleast checking it out. nothing better then paying for something and being able to take it home with you.

now this is my first attempt of using the camera so i didnt touch any brightness settings or anything and the visibility was horrible on my dives in the kelp and at 50ft deep not alot of sunlight got through the merky water and only like 10ft vis in the shallows but atleast you get some idea what kind of video a $200 dollar camera takes out of the box.

Gopro hd camera is amazing once you fix the out of focus issue with the lens

Intova is good to, i have the SP8 in housing, well worth it as well, has built in digital red filter which makes a huge difference to the colour when below 3m. in a nice hoiusing and quite compact however i think the HD resolution of the go pro is a huge poitve as well as the very compact size... its tiny!

I have the Flip video Ultra Hd. I love the camera its easy to use, small and very high quality the only problem is the housing is more than the camera.
Underwater Housing for Flip Ultra Camcorders

The housing has screw holes on the side so u can gun mount it. I have heard alot of good things about the go pro hero also.

What brand of mask is that you have on in the video?

Early Omer Aeris 45 which is now sold under a million different brands, its an OEM mask company in China that makes them now.

Cheap but still good.

cool footage shame about the green water but looks like nice country, try getting a dirty water filter for it, will make a big difference to the footage, should be able to get it from intova.

yea the area im diving is amazing when its better visibility some say (world class diving) but yea my particular mask is a "deep see" brand not sure of the model or anything, its a frameless mask i think i paid around $60. but all in all a really comfortable mask. dont let the foggy lens scare you. no matter what mask i use i have fogging issues... ive made peace with it.

and thanks for the tips on the filter for the camera.

White tooth paste with peroxide in it. good blob on each lens rub it into each lens all around till it hurts your thumb (about 5min each side) then rinse out.

use a bit of antifog e.g Mcnett Seagold, probably the best or spit and just slightly rinse out... should sort the problem!

yea ive tried toothpaste, spitting, and a couple different anti-fogs and theres no difference. the only explination i have is that i have really rosie cheeks its called something i cant recall... anyways my face is always extra warm. this might be fogging the glass because a normal face would cool in water and mine does not.

i was kinda curious so i looked up the omer aeris 45. its not a frameless mask so it might look similar to my mask at a glance but its a different design all together.

I got this one from Taiwan as an OEM sample. It is frameless.

i think your thinkng of the aries 39 as the aries 45 was definetly frameless and the saem as the baove image from DannyK. but there would seem to be no images easily available on the net for the Aries 45.

I've had nothing but trouble when it comes to fogging and OMER masks.

I don't have any issues with my Technisub, sphera, or Cressi sub masks. Actually, I've owned dozens of masks over the past 30 years and never had a fogging issue with any of them, but I have had a problem with every single OMER mask I ever owned.

Speaking of cameras, I see they they finally upgraded this camera mask:
Liquid Image | Scuba Series HD Wide Angle

Not sure how well it will work compared to their last effort, but it would certainly be nice for spearfishing with a sling.

i have the new aeries 39 in brown camo the only way i have found to keep it from fogging is to spit in it rub it around and not rinse it. vision is weird and there might be bubbles for a minute but it eventually it smoothes out and keeps it from fogging.....try that thats how i run mine!

You make a good point Jon. I've seen many forum members make similar observations about Omer masks. Some claim it is due to excess silicone not being removed at the factory after moulding. I loved my Omer Alien mask (until the lens started coming out) but it look several seasons of use before the fogging problem disappeared - but it did finally disappear. White toothpaste, spittle and match flames seemed to make little difference.

On the other hand, my Seasub X-lite Combat mask has worked well straight out of the box (and it comes with a nice, proper plastic mask box, unlike the Omer masks) - and it was significantly cheaper. The Seacsub mask is good but not perfect: I find the mask strap a tad too short (and perhaps thin) for my big head, with 5mm wetsuit hood and snorkel attached. Annoyingly the strap came loose on a dive recently - fortunately it was an unusually calm day & I was able to fix it in the water with gloved hands (the wonders of 2mm superstretch gloves!). It's started leaking a bit recently too - perhaps I'm overtighening it?

Anyway back to video cameras for spear-guns...
