Hi.

My current PB is 3'26". Contractions start at 2:46 so I know I can go longer.

Notes:
I warm up with a 2min breath-up * and 1min hold, a 3 min breath-up and 2min hold, then a 4min breath-up followed my the MAX attempt.
*breath-up is inhale for 4sec and exhale for 8sec through the nose

Please advise me as to better methods and techniques.

Thank you
Steve

The first time i have done my 4:25 i did not know that i was timed! The day before i did 3:40. In a day obviously i did not manage to practice that good to gain that extra 45". So i think it is mainly in the mind and psychological. As for the warm up i do 1 minute apnea 2 minutes rest, 1.30 apnea 2 minutes rest, 2 minutes apnea 2 minutes rest and then my "max". However after the "max" i rest for 6-8 minutes and then i do another one which i get the best time.

the technique is ok.
i get better results when i stay completly horizontal, facing up on the bed. [the goal is to lower your heartbeats]

My max is 4:04. I used the apnea trainer app's CO2 table and then attempted a personal best.. then rested several minutes and tried again. On the couch and very relaxed. When contractions start I kind of "swallow" in my throat which for some reason helps me relax again... and I keep "swallowing" to keep my body relaxed. Maybe someone knows what that swallowing motion is all about and why it helps?
