waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The brand is indeed HYPERFINS.
Model: hyperfin
Medium stiffness blade.
footpocked modeld afte measurements by Natalia Avcheenko.
First fins' footpocked was way to big, I got that one on the WC in Sharm after ordering one with Natalia at the WC in Maribor Slovenia. The second fin was sent through mail (E 100,-) and arrived the 26th of febraury this year, about 8 months on the 'second try'.
Perfect dynamic fin. Don't really know about CW yet.

The general advice is, if you find one, try it, if it fits, buy it!

Ok, gotta run!

adios!

Kars

hi kars,

i would really like to try the fins before ordering them.
but where? i hope there will be someone at the http://www.apnoehappening.de/

it was the main reason for me to order the specialfins because they have the omer footpockets. so i was able to try the omer footpockets before and i was sure the fin would fit.

unfortunately i do not know a shop or something like that, where i could try the hyperfins....

greetings
marc

Hi Marc,

I'm planning to come to the Apnoehappening, and if you're really carefull you try my Hyperfins as well as my modified WaterWay MD2 MiddleDistance Classic, my new fin for deep diving.

As I'm planning to try for a National Depth record in CWNF, I'm looking for some more assistance, maybe you can help me out with some of that?

Grüsse,

Kars

hi kars,

i would really like to try the fin and i am really careful!
promise!

and i can help you with your cwnf too, of course.
i will arrive there on thursday already together with a friend who is also a freediver.
so we can assist you.

we think about training on thursday afternoon and friday morning before the happening.
of course during the happening too, but we also wanted to have a look at the workshops...

i think we should pm shortly before the happening,

greetings,
marc

Hi
I'm ordering WaterWay glide-fin for freediving and I have problem with size.
I would like to know which size of WW glide footpocket will be better for me.
My shoes have 42 size (Europe Size). My foot is 280mm with 3mm neoprene sock.
Men who sells WW monofins tell me that if i want to dive with 3mm, better size for me will be 310mm(42-43)!!!??. But my foot is 280mm with sock so I think that size 40-41 (290mm) will be better for me.Is 1cm reserve will be enough to swim with and without socks ?

Is footpocket of glide fin is tight?
What is better for dynamic open or closed heels?

Please advise me .

Ich have a Glide with 290mm pockets though my foot is only approximately 27 cm long. The length is not the problem but the pockets are quite narrow (and I have really narrow feet). I wouldn't want to go with smaller pockets. If your foot is really 280mm long (with socks) I think it'll be hard to squeeze them into 290mm pockets.

What is better for dynamic open or closed heels?

My fin has open heels. But I cannot tell since I don't own an additional pair (or uniquum? with closed heels to compare

Have fun, Michael

I have a spare Fin. A MD model 2, the footpockets are ruined. Has anyone yet tried adding a waterway glide footpocket to one of the old fins?

Would it be easy enough to do?

Cheers

yep, Ive done it and you can see the pics earlier in this thread. I am planning to do it again with some mods to the footpockets to increase the angle further. I just responded to your PM on this as well

Cheers buddy

I found your earlier post after I posted mine. Was the resulting fin any good?

Yeah it was and Waterway are now making it as the finswimming version which looks quite good (not that I can take credit for that). I just ordered a model 1 blade from WW to do the same thing with my Glide foot pockets

Hello all, recently I got a giperfin from Ukraine. The fin has little or no v bending. I thought I'd share the image of the layering with you. In the third image you'll see the obvious footbocket bend.

Looks like a good fin!

Great pictures, does is compress at depth? What is it's bouyancy at the surface and depth(s)?

How's the delivery time and price?

Thank you,

Kars

I've not heard of 'giperfin' - is it hyperfin? If not - do you have a web site for them - very nice looking fin!

"giperfin" is just an incorrect reverse transcription of the orignal name "hyperfin" that must be spelled g-i-p-e-r-f-i-n in Russian, because there is no sing equivalent to the latin H and Y in cyrillic (the cyrillic signs H and Y stand for N and U instead)

Well yeah Fondue, it's a hyperfin. Not the brand name, the type.

Kars, I haven't used it for onstant ballast yet. Anyway I just got the fin on Saturday. I don't have access to depth here. It's a very bouyant fin, so I assume it compresses at depth. The maker says that no freedivers have come back to him regarding issues at depth, so I don't know if there will be any.

Ummm, not a good sign. Maybe those that had an issue never came back up! :blackeye

Just kidding, of course, they are great fins.

Natalia Avseenko told me that Hyperfins (the fin maker) was working on a non-compressible monofin for deep diving. .

Well thank you Mr Peter Scott, that was very encouraging.rofl:t

I actually wanted to get a Hyperfin, but no one replied my emails! I still would like to get one, especially if they make one for deep diving.

Well as you guys can see, my fin came with 2 cracks, no thanks to the post office who man handled my package.

I spoke to the maker and was presented 2 options. Either cut one wave away, or send it back. He said that I might as well cut off one wave and try it, because he will anyway. He said the Chinese finswimmers and others like their monofin shorter than usual, and considering my size, said it might just work for me. And if I still don't like it, just send it back to him.

So... Since I don't have access to a workshop, I took to the monofin with my scissors. I cut off one wave as close as possible to the next, and then sanded it down with a cheap and rough sharpening stone followed by wet dry sandpaper. Here are some photos:

I feel like Andy (ADR). You probably should never lend me your monofin either.rofl

I will test the newly modified fin and report back on the v bend issues, though I doubt any will surface.
