Hey all, I'm getting Mako's 2mm reversible wetsuit for a trip to the Florida Keys this spring, and budget's a bit tight. I'm thinking about ditching the hood (it's an extra $25) but I wanted to see what you guys think. So the main question is, what are the pros and cons to having/wearing a hood with your wetsuit?

Warmth is the biggest.
Hydrodynamics and water-exchange are probably the second biggest factor.

With an attached hood, The hydrodynamics are better.

Sunburn on your head / neck are other biggies.

What do you mean by "water-exchange"? I searched it quick and nothing came up... Otherwise your post is a good summary :)

A typical 2-pc freediving / Spearfishing suit is custom fitting and doesn't let water in to it. This keeps you warm.

If it is ill-fitting or an open neck, it'll "flush" with water and you'll cycle water through your suit. It'll cool you down.

The plus side (other than not overheating), is that if (when) you pee, it'll wash out quickly during your dive.
