What kind of crossover benefits does all this give your lungs? To make this more clear, aside from being able to hold your breath for long periods/at depth, what else does it do? I know its like a party trick and of no real importance, but have you seen those guys who can blow up a hot water bottle? What about performance on a peak flow meter, also can the lung capacity increase?

Basketball

Ike,

For years I played basketball with a group of guys after work. I pretty much took all of 2001 off and just did freediving (and some jogging) as my form of exercise. Several weeks ago, I decided to starting playing ball again. After running full-court for almost two hours, I felt great while the other guys were worn out.

I'm just an old fat guy (42, about 15-20 lbs. overweight) so the only thing I can attribute my energy level to was good lungs from freediving. A nice crossover benefit (to go along with my crossover dribble ;) ).

Scott,
you sound just like the kinda person we're looking for during the winter to play on our old man bball league here... over 40 and over weight. This past winter we had a lot of trouble getting takers, so we only played several times. I think I noticed the wind thing too..but it didn't help my ankles or my back any.

I resemble that statement

Fred,

Thanks for the kind words :)waterwork ). Fortunately, no back or ankle problems (yet).
