I need a freediving mask and my head is narrow. I always get water and fog in my mask during breath up and it´s really annoying. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I have the same problem with fogging and for me i believe it is related with my breathing since becoz i feel i am out of air i am starting to blow some air in my mask without realizing that, but i am using cressi matrix and even with this habbit i have no problem with fogging also i found the visibility in this mask is better than Omer Alien, Scuba Prob (Scout), and Beauchat Mondial mask. Last dive i used first the omer alien which was fogging bcoz of air i am blowing in the mask when i switch to cressi matrix on the samne dive i saw much difference in the color of water and fogging same happend with the other mentioned brands...

So my choice is Cressi Matrix...

I've had great luck with every Cressi, Picasso, and Technisub mask I've owned when it comes to fogging. I've also had nothing but misery with every OMER mask I've owned- and I've owned a few. I also went through a "Sphera" phase, where that's all I used, but since they fall apart so fast i stopped using them after I went through about 10 of them. My current favorite is the Technisub "Marina", otherwise known as the Aqualung "Micromask". My back-up mask is a Cressi Super Occhio+.

Just my $0.02

Jon

I'd say Sphera is pretty awesome. Wide field of view, and no issues with fogging for me. The Omer Alien I have fogs everytime, whatever I do!

P.S. we can't really help with your decision unless you tell us your requirements etc for pool, or freediving in the sea and looking around? For depth (think 40, 50m) or shallower?

I purchased the new omer aries 39 they seem to have a larger buildup of film from production. i cleaned mine a couple of time with toothe paste and now it has never fogged again! It did alot in the beginning but not anymore.

cressi super occhio best mask money can buy, low volume, very robust use mine for both octopush and spearfishing (same mask) and no problems.

I agree with Jon, Technisub Micro matches the Matrix for viz. Sphera's are fragile - I have one I've repaired 3 times - it can be done but at current prices I dn't think they are a good investment. (jon - if you have any old spheras - send 'em over!)

Micro also has lower volume than anything except the Sphera. and better field of view than any in all dimensions except the sphera in horizontal. Matrix is lovely - but a tad volumnuous for >30m. Some of the Cressi masks are weird fitting though. I can't use the ochio plus or big-eyes - both leak at the temples - but the matrix fits.

Micromask is also good for narrow faces. Jon has a massive, moon-like countenance - whereas I've been called 'hatchet-face' - it works for both of us and for my daughter - who resembles an alligator gar on steroids.

Sorry Chris, but I sent all of my old Spheras to Longfins a year ago. I have two in reserve, but I only use them for line-diving- which happens about once a year.

Jon

Waaah! I've had good luck making them go again. I like them because they correct my vision underwater.

Fondueset/Jon: Where is the best place (least expensive, but still reliable) to buy the AquaLung MicroMask online in the US?

Scubasworld or Leisurepro. Either will take it back if it doesn't fit oops - my bad - scubasworld doesn't have it. Another candidate is the Sporasub Mystic - I don't know anyone who's tried it but it looks cool.

I ordered my Marina from a shop in South Africa because they weren't being imported into the US at the time.

Now, I would just go to my closest Aqualung dealer and buy it there- you should also be able to try it on before you buy it if you go that route.

Jon

Yep, love the micromask. So far the best of the many I've worn.

Chris,

I still have Jon's used sphera masks and haven't done much with them since I don't dive much these days. PM me your mailing address and I can send them to you.

I hate seeing a grown(?) man(?) cry. :t

Cheers,

Peter

Hello Longfins,

thanks for that but I live in Denmark. Maybe it´s a bit expensive to mail it to me if you live in the US?

Martin

There are still many of them available in Germany. There are more than four shops which have them on stock
