Hello. Whenever I practice freediving on the pool, the next day I am drained!!! Sometimes I think it twice to freedive if I am going to have a busy day.

So after freediving, do you get more sleepy? Has anyone had this experience? How can you overcome this? Diet? other techniques?

Well I am a pretty active guy, but when it comes to training apnea, I get more tired than other regular activites. Thanks for all your help.

Roberto

Hi Roberto,
From what I have heard recently the tiredness may come from the release of free radicals in the body as a result of breath holding.

Eat more fruit / veg / whole foods rich in antioxidants and this may help mop up the FR's.

I may be wrong and someone more qualified to answer may correct this !

Be sure you drink enough, before, during and after.
Water, juces etc.

Try to avoid alcohol.

Freediving is a very complete sport, combining a physical challenge as wel a mental one. Movement in water is often underestimated, but it's a total body workout. (now i'm sounding like a tell-sell commercial :D )

The increesing and decreesing pressures in combination with exersice may wear a body more out than doing exersice on land?
Can someone confirm this last thought, please?

Kars.

I do get tired after diving but less so as I gain experience. Free diving is actually mostly an anaerobic workout as I understand so it is not a total workout. However without fins dynamic it uses just about every muscle but is gentle on the joints.

If you are tired check out your diet. Are you eating properly?
