What size of blank for a SoCal inverted roller paddy gun?

Hey all,

New to this forum, but I’ve built a gun in the past. I have a bunch of teak laying around and want to build a gun. My buddy is letting me park my boat at his house, and he’ll be going paddy hopping with me a bunch. So I’ve been interested in inverted rollers, and want to make him one that will be suitable for SoCal paddy hopping. That being said, I’m not sure where to start. What size blank to start with and what size gun when it’s finished? I’m going to start jointing and running the teak through the planer and get it laminated soon, just don’t know how big I should make it. I have a bunch of carbon (might be basalt, it’s an unlabeled roll in my composites scrap pile.) that I’ll laminate between layers as well.

I'm afraid I never got into rollers but I did a lot of diving on kelp paddies. Anything from 110 to 130 would work in a standard gun. The main targets will be yellowtail and they can be almost suicidal. Dorado (Mahi) can be a bit more shy. I guess a 120 would be a nice compromise and be useful back in coastal kelp beds fo0r White Sea Bass. I hope you can translate that into what you would need in a roller gun.
