What won't you swim with?

Actually Portugeese Man-o-Wars are not that bad. What me and my family can attest is - with time the shock of sting gets less and less. I.e. if you never got stung - be carefull since sensetivity varies a lot. That was very funny (for the rest of us) to watch our very macho friend to jump around on the beach for an hour after first sting in his life. Especially considering that in the middle of the show my 10 year old son get out of the water and ask my wife: Mom - I got stung with that blue thingy - you said that it can be dangerous and I should tell you that I got stung but it don't bother me much so can I go and spearfish for little more? Bottom line - man-o-wars annoing but I will definietely swim with them.

Having taken the safetys off our guns might have led to a heightened sense of gun etiquette and safety. I did notice a tendency to coach newbies and thoroughly stomp on the head of any whose gun etiquette was not up to our standards. Lack of instant improvement led to no further invites.

Never tried to spearfish around naked ladies, but can understand how it might interfere with aim.

for me vis makes a huge difference, poor vis scares the hell out of me...

Yeah I hate dark water, poor viz, not being able to see under water etc. It's getting so bad that I don't want to surface swim without a mask. I guess I'm lucky that there's not really anything too dangerous in my local water. I mean, there's always a chance of resident killer whales or some such thing but I've never seen them.

The thing guaranteed to keep me out of the water though, is jet skis. Nothing like a fat, sunburned, tourist with a skinful on a 900lbs PWC to tighten the sphincter.

I’ve gota say chaps that swimming around in the sea with a load of naked ladies sounds pretty good to me but like Nick has said above, the sound of a jet ski coming my way at full throttle gives me a right cold shiver.blackeye

I would say in general dive flags improve safety but you know what they say, where you look is where you go.

"Hey there's a dive flag! cool!!"

Yes jetskies\boats can be scarry. Last time a small (and that was good!) boat go between me and my floaty with diving flag. Needless to say that my Wong was attached to the floaty... Fortunately it wasn't loaded at that particular moment or I would be tempted...

i would swim with anything as long as i didn't know it was in the water before i got in :t

that being said i have been mulled by sea loins before.... but i still like seeing them.

I always figured that the "no fear" guys were either liars, delusional, or had no experience. Whichever, diving with them was to be avoided.
