I managed to get my first dive in today, Last one was September! I have become a father in the intervening time so I have a good excuse!
Anyway I slipped in at a local pier and tried for a few Scallops
Didn't even bother with the gun as I expected the usual absence of fish at this time of the year.
I surprised a good Pollock who appeared to be lying in a clump of weed.
I am not sure who got the bigger fright but he moved off pretty smartly.
Up until this point I was under the impression that the Pollock moved away perhaps to deeper waters during the winter but obviously my hypothesis was incorrect.
The water temp was 9ºC and that is about right for this time of the year.
Any ideas why this fish was hanging around?

:hmm Surggest they move on the wrecks in deeper more stable temperatures ,that is where they are caught by anglers along with other species :)

Thats what I thought too, but what was this fish doing here now?
I will look for Bass today.

Huan just to give a :wave seeing you unarmed rofl rofl rofl rofl
seriously I do not think all fish go away in the winter months as i have seen many species in the depth of winter over the decades i have been diving .more the case of bad weather and poor visibility ,i.e not enough diving therefor no fish
