Sort of a stupid question. Im about to travel with my guns and I was wondering what the best type of bag was. I was looking at either the picasso or the omer bag. I havent seen either of them in person so I dont know if the padding (if they even have any) is better in one or the other.

I was thinking about sleeving the guns in pvc inside the bag and maybe trying to shove some more of my gear in there.

What do you guys use?

Thanks
Dustin

I use a fishing rod tube and take the trigger/handle assembly off and put in in my duffle. make sure you use something rigid - baggage handlers are not the gentlest folk.

Lots of people use ski cases....they are rigid, plenty of room for 2 large guns and draw less attention at airports;) Right now however they are searching everything so unlock it before they get it so they dont break anything:head

I use a heavy padded snowboard bag and just put my shafts in rigid pvc tubes. The bag is big enough that you can pack your clothes/wetsuit in w/ your guns and everything's golden. I think the less you advertise that your contents are fragile, the better. :t

Packaging

A good friend of mine flew from LAX to Denpasar (Bali) this previous summer (prior to 9/11) for a surf/dive trip. He had his Riffe Island packed in a 3" PVC pipe with a cut out for the handle, and a lot of towels stuffed inside for padding. This tube was placed in a large surfboard-boardbag that had 3 or 4 boards in it. Not only was one board broken, and another had 3 broken fins, but his speargun was broke in half!:waterwork
Ive heard indirectly that he was so bummed about his speargun that he did hot come out of the bunk for several days...
Pack with caution

That seems sorta wierd. You can run over 3" pvc with a truck and its perfectly fine. Was the pvc shattered or somthing?
