which fins to get

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I've been trying to find a pair of Imersion Fiberglass fins with no luck. They were just removed from the Imersion website, so I'm guessing that they're no longer available.

shoot Jimdoe2you an email. these fins are worth digging for. my current fin stable:

Sporasub Purecarbon
Omer Green plastic thinga-ma-bobs
Cressi Gara
Imersion E-glass

Have used in addition:

Imersion Carbon
Omer Bat 30
Omer Bat 25

the imersion fins (e-glass & carbon) are by far my favorite. both have blades made by Brier, and the footpockets are super soft and comfortable while still delivering excellent energy transfer. I've done 30m+ hunting dives with all the above fins, but return trips are far more comfortable with the imersions :)

Hey sorry to steal the thread, i currently have thermoplastic fins with footpockets, and im looking to upgrade to carbon fins, Which do you suggest? I was looking at the C4 fins they look great also another fin blade called the CARBONTEK MATT MIMETIC

Views guys?

Cheers

Joe

Amphibious,
I did contact Jimdoe. He is no longer carrying Imersion. Too hard to work with. In addition, I saw them fall from the Imersion website in thew last 2 weeks.
Imersion.net
They are no longer carrying the e-Carbon or the E-glass.
They are carrying carbon fins with the Misfud label, so I'm betting that they have split with Breier.
So take care of what you have. You may not get another chance.
I may even try to get a pair of Imersion footpockets and glue my SpecialFins blades into them. Diving Dane says that the footpockets are available (at least in Australia). Since Jimdoe no longert carries them, even that mey be difficult.
Since the water is cooling down up here I really want the Imersion footpockets. Summertime I can get along with Dessault or Omer footpockets and my specialFins blades, but the extra room in the Imersions is worth a lot with thick neoprene socks and chilly water (below 8 C).

Thanks Hudasmt, but I was looking for the fiberglass version. I only mentioned the older E-carbons as also being gone from the Imersion catalog.
But, yes they are the carbon equivalent to the fiberglass, and have apparently also been discontinued. DiveInn has apparently bought the last of the stock and is selling it at a good price.

do those imersion carbons come in different stiffnesses? Relative to a C4 "25" how do they feel? They look quite wide too.

hi
currently im using Omer Bat 25's.
im cosidering to upgrading to:
-DiveR
-Picasson Team Carbons
-Omer Rekord Carbons
-Specialfins Spearfishing Carbon

any suggestions, input, feedback would be highly appreciated

thanks

Going back to his original question.

It is curious how little there is about the Picasso high end fins.

Hi, guy's, for anyone considering the Omer Rekord's Omer have just released their 2010 catalogue & the new rekords have the stingray foot pocket with the bigger angle.I understand they are very comfortable. Also consider PVE mack V1.(Pierre Van Ecke in Marseille France) These ARE Omer rekords but not badged as such & are cheaper. You can buy just the blades,or with stingray or millenium footpockets.Only thing that is a pain, you cant buy online & must do a bank transfer.

Palmes Mack VI

I also looked at Vidrax carbons very cheap.
« VIDRAX ??????-?????? ???? Narval ?? ???????? ??????? » ????????? ?????? ??????? ?? ???????
Does anybody know these fins?
I have heard great things of the Spierre carbons.the blades are 80cm x 22cm which personally I like.I dont like narrow long blades & prefer shovels on my feet.
Does anyone know about leader fins? Their carbons are also very cheap because they sell direct.

Those French fins look awesome! Nice price too.

First time (for me) I have seen a Fins stiffness rated by the mass of the diver they are supposed to propel. Seems very obvious to me. (If i am understanding the Webpage right). To this day I still don't understand, or probably miss-understand, why the C4 fins are rated for "depths" (15/25/30/40m).

Thanks for showing it Azapa.
It works for me.
75 kg and I definitely prefer medium stiffness
E-greens and medium BWspecials in Omer or dessault footpockets.

I would LOVE to see the manufacturers use this as the basis of their marketing, rather than "the perfect blend of...".

I have just bought some Spierre pure carbon blades. When I get a moment & fix them to my Omer millenium footpockets & try them i will add to this thread.

I have just bought a pair of fiber-composite Spierres and am going to fix them to pretty standard Omer fps. I am hoping Sikaflex-291 will do the job as I REALLY don't want to drill the blade...

How did your setup turn out Jon?

FC blades come as a pair for £190 from europeanspearfishingsuppliesdotcom

Hi, i spoke to Pierre who makes Spierre fins & he advised me to drill small holes in them & fix with a cable tie which I have done. The cable tie goes through the holes & fastens underneath. The side rails are just held in with the normal omer clips as I have used Omer ftps.I also used a tool similar to a dremmel tofile the edges of the holes to stop the carbon fraying.Waters still too cold just now ,so havent taken them for a test drive yet.I think price quoted from ESS is incorrect.Colin at ESS sells them for £295 not £195, for the pure carbon's(unless he's had a major reductio in prices) I got mine from him.He sells the pure carbons & the composite spierre fins.

sorry didnt read above correctly, i see now pric quoted is for FC fibre composite blades.

hi all, i really think you look far too deep (pun intended! into fins..The difference between them is so minimal (in my opinion, and i have had the pleasure of testing/using many pairs over the years)...stick to a pair which doesnt break the bank, and are comfortable...fyi i use leaderfins stereowaves carbon
