One night I decided to hold for 30seconds exhale then hold for 30 then inhale hold for 30 and so on until it is to hard to keep going i did this for about 5 minutes. Just wondering if in the long run will help my breathe hold or do anything at all? That night I did beat my static record.

Cheers, Sam.

Yes its always good to pioneer new techniques for training. Im sure it cannot be detrimental to your training, so why not? Nothing is set in stone. There is no 'correct' way to train. Just find what works best for you.

Sam - i am only new to the freed diving world, though like yourself tried the interval activity last night. i also got a new PB as a result, you might be onto something. Thanks  ... like Sam i wud be interested to know a professionals opinion on the matter. cheerio

Welcome Fitzy. Nice to see another Aussie on here. I have been doing this table for a week and a bit now and last time I got in the water I was getting bottom times of 1:06 and 0:56 and things like that which are usually unheard of for me. I was quite proud. If these tables become to easy you can increase the time you hold for, the first time I did it i couldnt go past about 4 minutes of it and last night did it for 10 so i might start to hold for 45..exhale hold 45..etc. Or my other theory do a static hold and note when you get contractions and half that time, this is your unhaled hold time..then do an exhaled static and again note when the contrations start, halve it, this is how long you exhale hold for. Yet to try it though. Anway welcome and good luck with your freediving :)

Sorry for the double post but thought I'd give anyone watching this an update i have been doing this for a few weeks now and have broken my static record twice first 3:36 and just the other day got 4:32. If your looking for other methods of training give this a try.

Cheers, Sam

Thank you to everyone that has tried this. I'm also working on a kind of CO2 table version well it is very close it is aimed at push the contraction time back. My contractions, most of the time start about 1.15 and i have been doing my new method and have started pushing them back to around 1.30 in only a week or 2. What I do is very similar to a CO2 table but instead of making the hold time 50% of your pb i made it your contraction time plus 15sec which gave me 1.30 and all you do is hold to 1.30 and try to put off the contraction until then, then have a rest you can do decreased ventalation time if you wont, i dont, and then do that as many time as you see fit, i do about 5-8. I started this last week and now my contractions don’t start till about 1.30.

Just a note. I know nothing about. These are all based on guess and me so no guarantees but works for me. Thanks for all your support.

Sam,
I would suggest not to be so fixed on the time after your first contraction. Give it a try to count the contractions and try to bear a certain count of them.

This sounds really similar to the "crazy tables" that a load of people were trying at the Hurghada WC. It seemed to work for them - at least those who made it through the long and complicated number of holds.

Do you have more informations about these "crazy tables"?

hey sam,

my friend and I do something very similar to your 30-30 technique, only difference is we do it in the pool. 25m dynamic then 25m back crawl, this takes about 1 min. We find it is fairly similar to what we do when spearfishing.

I did try the holding for 30 and breathing for 30 went for about 10 min waited a while and tried a static didn't beat my pb but i did better then i have done all winter. I am going to give it another try in a few days.

thanks for all the ideas your sharing

Vessey
