Hi Guy's!

I am planning to build a speargun for allaround here in The mediterranian!
I am about to ready with the plans, but I need some help!
It will be 80cm long from eucalyptus wood , what I got from an old man,and it is 20 year's dried in a place forgotten! I cleaned it cut in piece's 4mx10cmx10cm
2 month ago, they really good material: Do I need to lamminate it??
I plean it to be like the new beuchat marlin revo system, becouse if we spear in small holes shallow water I just use the upper 19,5 rubber not to have too much power, and when I reach deeper water for snapper I use the dubble 16 mm rubber to have power for the far shoots !?
the rollers I make from teflon, with a simple axe from anticorrosive 10mm,
the 7mm 120cm shaft will have a closed lead from an anti corrosive tube!
Mechanism Benthos or bleutec good ones for big power.

I start tomorrow, just I am not sure with the wood lamination?? If I clear it up I make parallel also a longer one !

IN a week the best season starts in GREECE!

Sounds like a great project. Personally I would laminate. The last thing you want is to sink lots of hours and cash into a gun only for it to warp after a few trips into the water. Why take the risk?. Just my opinion, Good luck.

The old man say! When the wood is older than 10 yr's it is better to live it in one! the wood you can buy is never more than 6,or dried in an owen that is the reason they laminate ! who knows?

You definitely want to make it up in laminates, the gun will be much stronger & stay straight.
I am not familiar with eucalyptus, I mean I have never made a gun from the wood but, I have made roller guns & I can tell you they are very difficult to get a good balance with.
The front tends to be heavy & bulky & they are not easy to move around in the water.
The longer the gun the easier it is to balance but, an 800 roller gun is almost certainly going to be muzzle heavy.

SO to cut it in 15mm slice's and to laminate them together with epoxy glue!
to live the gun minimum 1 meter, and the track is good with an INOX tube cutted and put in an epoxy bed?!

Also AMERO costume guns are from one piece!
I give it a try !

Great will will look forward to the progress, please keep us informed...

Nice one ! From outside will be close to the blue-tec carbon gun's, have superbe balance , and move very fast in the water plus a good planned nose ! Meanwhile I spoke with a mechanic specialist for wooden stuctures, and told me how to choose the piece to make out from one piece ( difficult) !

the closed track will help a lot for good target, to regulate the power !!

Gikas George also nice one's

I am sorry but I do not understand why you want to use a solid piece of wood?
Laminating will always give a superior end product!
Laminating the gun in three pieces will not only guarantee a stable gun but it will look fantastic too.
To be honest I have never heard of Eucalyptus being used for gun making - is it an oily wood?
I have used Benthos trigger mech before, they look great but I found them a bit temperamental to engage the spear.

I will do so (laminate it is really stronger)!
Do you know somebody who makes enclosed tracks in europe from light material!
