Hi every one I've just started spearfishing and I'm really interested in making myself a wooden speargun.
I'm a professional joiner of about 25years and I've also made quite a few longbows, so I'm quite sure i could make the gun . I'm just a bit stuck on the trigger mechanism??? Does anyone have some advice???

Yes , buy it !!

It is possible to make your own mechanism, I know a friend who copied a commercial crossbow mech. However due to the amount of pressure on the mechanism I would recommend a commercial mechanism unless you are an experienced metal fabricator as well. These will be suited to different shaft types and line locations (if using a line release) so some research is needed. If you intend to make one there are some good patterns and tutorials available.
