The idea is to vote for choosing the world freediving day. It will be a date which will be progressively become known to every freediver around the world. It will be a day that we will all celebrate our oceans and our beloved activity. It will be a day that we will all remember those who lost their lives while freediving, those who spent their lives to make freediving known to us, those who pushed the limits and still pushing further. For these memorable moments that everyone lived while holding their breaths, for the competitions, for the AIDA, for the sea, for us..
In this day, local club events for celebration could take place, small parties, gatherings, or team training, freediving games, etc in honor of the aforementioned and more.
Why? It will be another step forward for the world freedivers to unite and feel this unification on a single day. It will be nice to know that all freedivers around the earth is celebrating. Among the gatherings and events, etc will bring our sport more close to those who dont know anything about freediving.
Dates proposal?
June 06th (Herbert’s attempt to explore further the human potential)
Sept 22nd (Release of Le Grand bleu, the movie that moved the sport forward)
Nov 23rd (Mayol first man touching the -100m mark)
…and many more.
This is one of my ideas which I am sure that many others have thought. If this idea dropped in table by a world record holder then the chance to become true would be much higher. I am not a record holder but I am as passionate as you all and this is what is count.
Deeperblue is one of the biggest freediving forum and could significantly help to set this.
