2008 ROUGH FISH CONTEST - WISCONSIN!


Post your rough fish for 2008. The one with the most will win a prize. Keep track of your own total by species.

All fish must be taken freediving by speargun with your body in the water...no shooting from shore.

Post photos of your catch if you can.

Also, post your garbage removal totals. The more we can do to clean up the lakes, the better we will look to others...we are in control of how others look at us...let's have it be positive.

Well, I'll start this year off with 2 carp shot at the OUTLET. I should of had 5- But I let dotey shoot his first carp, and I missed 2- The vis was good - about 15'. Water Temp was 35 - Air Temp 35.

My Total for the 2008 season so far is 2 CARP. :martial

Went to the OUTLET today and was able to get 3 more carp. 2 common Carp and 1 Buffalo Carp.

I've hand-caught 2 so far this year- but then let them go so I don't know if they count.

I did actually shoot one today so that makes 3- or is it 1?:duh

to hand catch those is pretty impressive JON! I'd count it. I've tried on the Outing before and couldn't do it they would take off.

I've been thinking about a prize- for the Year End winner. what do you all think about a Speargun for the winner?

Some type of EURO-Style gun maybe 75cm? I figured this could spark a bit more participation from others. We could also do sub catagory winners also. Largest roughfish- 1 for length 1 for weight - gets a DB t-shirt Or Mug. And another Category that I won't mention but you can PM me if interested Those interested in this let me know.

In Addition to the ROUGHFISH CONTEST, we are having a few more SUB-Categories:

Largest Roughfish - 2nd Pick

Largest Bluegill - 3rd Pick

Largest Perch - 4th Pick

Largest Crappie-5th Pick

Smallest Fish - Last Pick

Best Shot - 6th Pick

To enter your fish in the contest we need:

1- Where fish was shot. (Location)

2- Picture with the fish. (if Possible)

3- For "LARGEST" & "Best Shot" categories- NEED PICTURE with TAPE MEASURE showing length.

4- Spear fair and be honest - This is for FUN!!! Lets not have any problems with Cheaters.

Hey this sounds like a huge setup for us all to chip in a couple bucks to buy whopperhead some nice new equipment! Just kidding. (Although you guys all got crushed in the rough fish competition!:crutch) Throw biggest crappie in there. I only get to spear like 3 or 4 months of the year, but Im hoping to join in!

Sweeeeet! I'll be lookin' extra hard for that 17 inch perch this year!
Last year my biggest was a 15 3/4"...I have seen 17"s caught by hook & line though. I also got a few 16" crappies last year....So lookout fella's! Game on!

I'm also known to frequent some lakes with "baby hippopotamus" sized carp....Hehehe! :t

That's a SWEET Stringer! i'm still trying to figure out the shot placement on those craps? I could see the "best shot" getting some type of award/prize. Nothing like a speargun- but something cool.

The shot is neat, but those are some nice crappies. Real slabbers. Looks like there was some nice eating on them.
