2008 Fish Spearing/Garbage removal contest entire year - Wisconsin

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

HOLY MOLY BATMAN! Maybe YOU will get THE biggest Carp ILDiver!

That would've been awesome with a speargun!!! :t But I would'nt wanna be attached to a 100 pound fish!!! :mute...Time to go with a "breakaway" setup if you're spearfishing for BIGHEAD "down there"!

Never saw or heard of a BIGHEAD Carp before...Sounds like maybe a different name for Buffallo Carp....I'll look on "the web" at them. Just did...WEIRD!!!! Looks like a cross between a Salmon and a Carp!

Oh and if ya did'nt see it already and you are "in" the "Wisconsin" contest...See post #100....Oh yeah baby! Chica chica!

oh yeah i shot at that one too but he got off my spear rofl maybe it will take me and you both to get a spear in that one to bring it in LOL good shooting there Bgill nice looking fish there but my 42# is going to stay i hope LOL i was hoping that i got that one in it was a blast good thing i bought that new gun of mine :martial but i am ready to get back out again real soon
 
I ended up shooting 11 carp today- Could of really taken alot more if I had more time. It was a great day to be in the OUTLET! When we got there- the winds were calm and then it switched and came in from the south west. The Vis was still great though- about 20'

My Total for the 2008 season so far is 44 CARP. :martial

Stopped at one of my fave's after my last job of the day today and Got me another Dogfish and a few pan's too! Nothing for the contest panfish wise...But the Dogfish brings me up to an astounding 4 "rough-fish" so far! :t

And I thought I was'nt gonna get out spearfishin' at all this week! But I'm learnin' to plan my days (jobs) wisely! :chatup

And hey...Could Dotey's "red striped" Carp qualify for "best shot" ??? Sure made a nice looooooooong gash on the back of that Buff! Cool! Gotta start somewhere right??? I wanna shoot a spear in one's mouth and out the other end! Or vice versa... Now that would be a cool shot!

Ha Bgill i shot that one on the run it was up by the pipe and when scott went in towards it it ran at me saw me and was running the other way and i made a long running shot on it and thats what i got that little sucker had some speed on it almost ripped right out but i have thought of the same thing shoot down its mouth LOL
 
Was able to get 6 more carp today at Lake Monona. 3 common carp & 3 Buffalo carp.

My Total for the 2008 season so far is 50 CARP. :martial

i got 11 more today so that puts me at 43 for the year and almost got a whopperhead sorry bro
 
You guys are The "Kings" of the Carpkilla's - So far! Man, I'm gonna have to shoot EVERY carp I see to catch-up! :head

My prediction is this: The only "contest" record thats gonna last long is probably Dotey's Carp...Once Perch opens and the 'Gills start nesting we'll see some biggun's I'm sure...Much bigger Crappie's are gonna die too...I just hafta find 'em!

Another prediction: The biggest Bluegill will come most likely come from Lake Mendota...And obviously the biggest Perch will surely come from Lake Michigan and probably the Kenosha area. The farther south you go in Lake Michigan the bigger the Perch...Or so the "Hook & Line Guys" say.
 
Went to Crystal Lake today- Vis was about 10'- temp about 59 degrees. I ended up shooting 4 Carp, 1 sucker, 1 9" Blue Gill and 3 Crappies - the Largest one going 14". the Carp were fairly big- with the biggest being at 41# and 36" only.


My Total for the 2008 season so far is 55 ROUGHFISH. :martial

I also have the Lead in the Crappie Dept. With 14" (Mouth Open) 13.75" (mouth Shut) not sure which way is the accurate way. But either way, takes the lead.

Also, I am entering a shot for "Best Shot" (we can vote at the end of the season) But, I shot a Crappie and a Sucker at the same time. (i have video)

What a belly on that carp! :t

Fish should have thier mouth's closed when measuring and you're supposed to pinch the tail together, add's maybe a 16th or an 8th"...There is a diagram in the fishing reg's on how to measure a fish...But at 13.75 thats STILL a VERY nice Crappie! Congrats on the lead in the "Crappie" category! :martialYou sure that gill is only a 9"...He look's bigger!

I'll see you Sunday! Tomorrow I MIGHT go to Wabesa...Maybe...But most likely Lake Geneva...It's so darn close! :inlove

P.S....Kinda rare to get a rough fish and a panfish on one shot...AWESOME! I bet you were gigglin' in 'yer mask right after that shot! rofl

Actually - when I shot the 2 fish- i was like "Oh Shi--ooot!" I wasn't sure what else I hit, It was in the weeds on the bottom. The Sucker also had some weird flesh eating disease. I was planning on bringing home and cooking up the sucker too- But not after I saw that. I was using the Hammerhead all day. It definately has alot of power. I didn't pinch the tail on the crappie- but I'll accept 13.75"

While I was wrestling the carp in the logs- other carp were coming in - I think they thought we were spawning

went to lake waubesa today i got 2 carp and 12 crappie as i found out that my wife likes crappie. the one fun thing today was when i was getting out of the water with my fish a lady came flying up to me on a moped and i found out she was from the paper so she took my picture of me and my fish pretty cool ill have to keep an eye out for my pic in the paper
 
Ended up shooting 12 more carp today at Lake Waubesa, along with 2 perch and 4 crappies. The pic that has one of my kids in it- She is sticking "Treasures" in her pocket - aka-fish scales rofl

This brings my Year Total to 67 Roughfish- So Far. :martial

I am still fishless so far this year... :head No one say anything about that. I have had a lot of success chartering for other people though, and yesterday we laid into a pretty nice sucker. I filleted her, and Ive got the fillets in the refrigerator in water. Ive had pickled sucker before and that was good, whopperhead, what were you planning on doing to your sucker, have you had sucker before? Just let me know, heres a picture of the fish. After winks took this fish, I was determined not to get skunked on the day, I was diving around a sunken boat looking in every nook and cranny for another sucker when an even BIGGER one came out of the back of the boat, and just kinda laid there, I moved my trusty JBL into headshot position, and fired... straight into the side of the boat. It took me about 20 minutes of diving and prying to get my spear out... But maybe today will be different...
