AIDA Indoor Freediving World Championship 2009 - Århus

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Kurt we all are on our way to the pool.....
Oh, sh*t!!! Unbelievebale. Pim, I am IT professional, so if you need some help with computer setups or with something else, just let me know. I am heading to the pool in a moment too.

hi Trux

video cameras is what we need, luckily some of us took laptops with us so that part I can handle for getting the Worlds continue without delay....

am printing new lists for the jury as we speak in the server room of pool

grtzzz

Linda foretold it in her blog... look out for blonde egyptians...

No really, sorry for the organizers, I can imagine Kurt's distress... and everybody's. My thoughts go to all those doing (for months) the work behind the scenes. If the perpetrators are caught, they should be made to do 150m DNF with 50 kg ballast. :martial

Hey Trux, great progression... congratulations, keep improving!

Holy crap, that's absolutely sickening news!!! I feel for you all. Just do what you can to get the comp running, don't worry about all the extra online stuff doesn't impact the actual comp.

If anyone in Aarhus reading this can donate any equipment, cameras etc then please do so!!! There must be plenty of athletes there with their own video cameras. Even if you have to use digital cameras, most of them have video mode and i'm sure AIDA International can make an emergency call on their use.

Good luck, we're thinking of you!!!!

Like in the horor movie! Can't belive! Very unpleasant for organisers and competitors. Hope danish will handle it.
Ales

HOLY SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a worst case nightmare scenario of gigantic proportion.
Maybe the sponsors and local media can help out.

I feel so helpless this far .......

Our harts are with all you organisers and people involved to get it all back up if at all possible.
What a sick world we live in ....

I hope they catch these (&^%$#^&*() :martial:martial:martial :crutch :blackeye

It might be a good idea for anyone you know in Aarhus to contact them and see if they have video cameras with them that the organisers can use.

Yeah good idea. Probably lots of the athletes carry private video cameras

Maybe ask a media store chain, such as Satrun or Media Markt, to sponser with 10 - 12 camera's for the weekend?

Well, more people are getting desperate and as the government, bankers etc are stealing trillions, and society is broad down by calculating minds, this sort of bold theft can be expected even in decent countries such as in Denmark.
The hardest thing in this time of depression and division, is to maintain an emphatic culture.

Back to the WC:

William Truebridge has apparently very stealthy, I wonder what he's planning to do...

Kathryn Mc Phee also did a careful swim, with one just into the final.

And what about Stig? I thought he was going to participate too? And his DNF should at least got him into the final, 156m is very reachable for this former World record holder, and World Champion!

I'm also looking forward how far Bjarte will go, will he try for DNF 200?

In regard to the BO's, I think it has to do with the fierce competition with many athletes close to earning a place in the finals. Also the rope exit maybe conductive to a few mouthdips. Where the BO's long, or was it more like a dip of the mouth?

CMAS competition, any news from the CMAS competing side?

Anyway good luck to all, and have fun, laugh and relax.

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

on nordic deep bjarte did 196 and looked fine. so 200 is sure possible for him.

also i think we will be seeing 160+ dives in dnf women with 3 or more ladys over 150 as well.

here is my prediction:
kahtryn mcphee 162meters
natalja molchanova 156 meters
maria livbjerg 152 meters

men
bjarte 201 meters
truebridge 192 meters

and then its hard to predict...

If the perpetrators are caught, they should be made to do 150m DNF with 50 kg ballast. :martial

And if they somehow could survive that, Kiwis have a really sharp idea to handle them...
Then organizers could put this video to YouTube:
Heats for thieves: DNF with 50kg neckweights, Survided in X-Final: Kiwi monofin tradition
Just in case if somebody is thinking to try it again in freediving competitions.
Hey Trux, great progression... congratulations, keep improving!
Amazing Trux! You almost got a place in World Championships Finals...not bad.
As I told you earlier, some day you will do 150 m DNF! You have the knowledge, only some more kick and gliding training needed for that :)

good job for the organisation team to cope with such a situation, and even manage to find some time to feed the world-spread "spectators" with on-line news...

Thanks from the results. Looks like Timo's condition is very good. I think that he is going to brake national record again in final!
