airguns: Sporasub One Air 2012!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
My guy told me closer to xmas. I hate to bring that news. "Every small revision brings the gun closer to perfect."

Well apparently it's still coming - it's just stuck in customs.

It's been sitting in Bergamo in Italy for the last 6 days, Omersub are looking into it rofl

Bros, I understand your concern but I'd rather not to start an unnecesary controversy.
That sea urchin has been picked up manually (that is legal) and then donated to the food chain of the sea (that is fair).

There is no controversy here, a company simply shows the worst way to deal with sea life, it was uncalled and even more unnecessary as i believe they could have came up with a better option instead of simply killing a sea urchin to show the accuracy. If they can't, well they they have no business in the spearfishing world...
All you legal/donated/fair wording is honestly laughable at, since i'm sure we would all complain about someone going around the sea killing animals for no reasons and donating them to the "chain of the sea". Yeah, very fair to the urchin.

The gun in that video is NOT the One Air, that's a promo video from last year featuring a prototype gun.

Why would they chose to upload it now - who knows. It just highlights their complete consumer indifference and lack of attention to detail. It really doesn't make much sense.

Understandable statement. I was just excited that there was a seemingly foreward momentum

Welcome to Deeperblue, honestguy.

So you joined the forum yesterday and in the 2nd of your posts you quoted a 3 months old moderator's message only to flame it up again. Not a bad record to start with. But how about cooling down, please?

On the matter, the policy of Deeperblue is clear about respect for sea life. Any picture, clip or write-up about illegal hunting and non-sense killing will not be tolerated on this forum.

The post you quoted was part of a longer discussion about the urchin case, where several posts have been at last deleted to keep the discussion clean and on topic.

Before the clean-up, the involved member has been kindly warned about the controversy generated by his clip. He explained that picking urchins is legal where it occured, and that the shot urchin has been immediately eaten by fish, following the fate of millions of sea urchins in the seven seas any day. Point taken, he's been asked not to post that kind of stuff again anyway, and he said "roger".

After that, a moderator deleted a few controversial posts about the incident, posted a final cool-down post, and the discussion was driven back on topic.

I hope this explanation will make you feel more comfortable.

PS. This post will be deleted in a few days. Then back on topic again. Please.

'Bro' if yoyr within driving distance in te states, I'd like to take a peak at it.

lol/ damn....... I can't catch a break! luckily theres fish

If I were to order a new one air
I'm shooting a hf 95
What size, one air would I need to
To get to Match its power??

For power, I'd guess an 80. I always shoot a 90 so have gone for the 80... I do have bad viz where I fish though... If you have decent viz, you could go for the 90 and enjoy the extra power - in the pool tests the 90 was smashng through the targets @ 4m.

Something arrived in the post very early this morning...! Finally!

Excuse my girlfriend's fluffy dressing gown - I had to meet the post man in a hurry ;)

The spear is absolutely tiny!!!

What's in the box:

Gun, spear, pump, terrible gun bag, mildly useless instruction book, loading thing, dyneema, spare seals & choice of two handles. I'm guessing one is the original AirBalete handle and one the new One Air handle.

A little disappointed to see tool marks on a few of the metal parts.

Comparison with an RA 90.

fJJTh.jpg

First impressions, it really is quite a stunning little thing - it feels very solid & very high quality - everything seems to fit and click together perfectly together with no play. It was easy to take apart, swap the handles etc.

When I first saw the size of it I had a minor panic and thought that maybe I should have had the 90 instead - having played with it, I think I made the right choice with the 80.

From end to end it measures exactly 85cm.

I've upped the pressure from the pre-filled 20 Bar to 23 Bar and am heading to the sea later on today.

One thing that's surprised me is the barrel - it's powder-coated aluminium, not polyuretherane as I'd expected. It feels like it will scratch badly so I foresee a camo paint job coming up at some point.

The handle is lovely - really delicate. If you had big hands (which I don't) I think it would seem very small. I think I prefer the new grip compared to the AirBalete one but will give both a try.

This, in the grand scheme of things quite minor but it's hard to emphasise just how poor quality the gun bag is - it's made of that cheap, fibrous fabric material that will rip and fall apart really easily - if you buy this gun you will have to buy a proper gun bag as this one is shockingly bad. It's hard to understand why they would put such a high quality product in such a piece of rubbish.

Another minor negative is that I noticed various tooling marks on the gun where pieces have been tightened - yes, this is just aesthetic but it does show a slight lack of pride and workmanship coming from the assembly line.

Despite what are, essentially, two minor negatives I'm very happy with it.

Sea test coming later on, can't wait to get it wet - will post a full review on Sunday.

If anyone want pics of specific parts or has a questions, let me know!

The spear is absolutely tiny!!!
I hope that's not what the mailman said when you opened the door in that outfit ;)

I allmost fell off the chair in the office laughing when i saw that image, thanks for a great post :D

Regarding the handles, the slim handle has the same looks as the standard handle on the Sporasub One bandgun. The bandgun handle has a rubberrized texture and feels like it is a bit thicker than the standard Airbalette handle. I like it a lot.

The other handle looks like the same "right hand fit" handle that comes as extra with the Airbalette.

At last!!
I also thought - "what a tiny spear" 6 years ago when I opened my first omer mamba 90! More like a high speed dart.
Why on earth have you added more pressure?

Why on earth have you added more pressure?

Ah - was that not a good plan?

From what I read on Pescasublog, they initially used it at 25 Bars but found it best at around 22 / 23 Bar.

They dropped it to 20 Bar when fishing in holes and around rocks.

Is there really that much difference between 20 and 23 bars? If it's a biggie 'll drop it down - you know I know I know next to nothing about pneumatics

Congrats. What was the purchase price? And can you get another one?

Some things first.

All the SporaSub guns are shipping with the "Ergo" handle and the standard handle.

When you said Dyneema. Is it a couple feet? Or a reel? I would have really liked to see the SporaSub reel shiped and pictured with the gun.

Well if there is one single issue about dry barrel air guns - it is loading the dame things!
I would of lowered the pressure if anything.
To be honest the loading is all about technique as you found out with your band gun!
Of course having never loaded a one air I obviously dont know if 20 or 22 bar will make any real differance but, my 90 will go clean through one side of a 5lb bass & out the other side at 20 bar.
Once you have mastered the 'one smooth pull down' to load the gun then you can start to turn up the power.
It only a baby one air after all!!!! :mute
