Ive been training C02 tables and getting results but in my search for helpful knowledge I can across a reference to an 'inale hold exhale' type cycle in which you change the variables of inhale, hold and exhale times. Presently Im experimenting with inhale 5sec, hold 60secs, exhale10ses x 5 cycles.

My question is, what name is given to this type of training? And how can I find out more about it/how to change up the varibles most efficiently?

Many thanks

Actually - having re-read your post...

What I call one-breath holds are:
Inhale fully - nice and slow, hold for set time, exhale fully.... Repeat 6-9times.

Eg:

Inhale - hold 1:45 - exhale, repeat 8x

Don't worry too much about inhale and exhale durations. Just keep it fairly consistent.

MUCH quicker way of doing CO2 training.

Lol thanks for your re-considered reply.
Its good to know that I dont have to exhale for the full 10 secs at around the 3rd or 4th cycle as it gets really tough.

I have read this three, maybe four times...and I think I know what I want to ask. Why the specific lengths of time for the exhalation (that we are not worrying about on these one-breath holds)? What is the expected physiological benefit from a prolonged exhalation duration and, if there is a "benefit", then is that truncated by the idea that we not "...worry too much about inhale and exhale durations."

I am all for your method, and have been doing my "tables" pretty much the same way for a couple of years. Thanks!
