And what are YOU doing next summer?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
my avatar is actually a picture of me wakeboarding at lake powell

Still sounds like fun, but I don't know on account of the job situation. I'll keep you posted :)

The Mrs. has accumulated two months of paid leave time. Surely I can convince her to spend of week of it. Call me tentative . . .

All right, the long awaited dive report. Last summer me and my family went down to wahweap marina at lake powell for the 24th of july. the weither was a perfect 90 -100F every day and the water felt like you were in a swimming pool I didn't use my wet suit at al the entire time. the viz was between 5 and 20 feet depending on were you were the canyons were kinda iffy but any where that was pretty oppen was great. the fishing down ther was awsome I took several nice small mouth bass and a few carp I also saw what had to be the biggest black crappy on the planet but I had allready shot my limit for the day:( any way I'll see if I can get a few pics going.

uh this isn't working, does any one know how to put pictures on this thing from your computer?

Go into the 'advanced reply' option. There's a paperclip on the top row of options. Click on that, and it gives you options for attaching files, including images. Just make sure that they're within the specified limit.

Hope that helps :)

O.K., the Mrs. is interested. Let's all start checking our calendars and bank books and get this summer sizzler in the works!

Check page 2 for houseboat options and prices. when we get enough imformation we can start a poll to decide wich one/s

I won't be able to afford a week on a house boat, but I am coming back to Utah for a friends wedding in July. I will swing down for 2 days and see what kind of trouble you guys are getting in if the dates are close.

it says I have to resize my pictures they are too big or something oh well ill get it to work one of these days.

Colt.45- Heres what ya do, go to - imageshack.us and hit browse. pick the one you want from the my pictures file or wherever you have them. check dont resize and then click host, then when it gives you the list copy and past the one that says direct link to image. then put the link in the post box and put

what sort of shootin gear is needed for these 60 lb stripers?whats the vis like? depth?

sounds like great fun, if i could get my US tourists visa in order, and a wetsuit, might make the trip up :) would love to do some spearing in a lake. (i'll need like what.. a 5 mil wetsuit?)

60lb stripers are pretty uncommon, to find them you will probably need to use scuba and hang out in the 50-60 foot range or deeper.

You will usally be shooting stripers in the 2-5lb range these are pretty fun to shoot and put up a decent fight for a freshwater fish their size.

Other big fish you will find are carp and cat fish, both are almost impossable to kill and fish in the double digits are pretty easy to find. For lake powell when I went last year I brought my 75cm sporasub black viper and that handled every thing quite nicely, shooting all the way trough 5 and 6lb carp with the band hooked on the furthest foreward notch(lowest power setting)

if you are freediving a 3mm shorty is all you are gonna need I personaly just wore my swim trunks almost the entire time

for scuba i wouldnt recomend any thing over 5mm unless you plan to hang out deep the water is pretty warm

vis is is any where fron 10 to 40 feet depending on were you are but in the backs of canyons it can drop to as low a 5 feet because of alge blooms

the date is tentitively set for somewhere between july 10 and the 24 we probably don't want the 24 becauce that's a state holliday and the lake kinda becomes a mad house. but then again that's half the fun right?

oh yeah if you arent wearing a wet suit stay away from blue gill one left a scar on my ankle and annother one almost bit my nipple off :rcard he sure tasted good though, vengence is sweet hahaha .
