Hi I am currently 14 and getting into freediving. I live in Jamaica where there are no courses for freediving and not many freedivers. I know about the risks of freediving and I dont want to freedive for depth I just want to be able to go underwater and relax with the underwater environment. At the moment I can only hold my breathe for about 41 seconds. I want to improve my breath hold and dont know of any techniques to do. Please help thanks.

You will need a buddy for all training. Get a good buddy and then you can proceed. Also having a buddy is necessary when the sharks show up. You might as well build up your circle of friends for both training and diving.
When you are buddied up you must watch one another. It is not good if you aren't watching. The only time I ever blacked out was in a pool doing a static. I did an aggressive breathe-up, dunked my face in the water and poof, I was blowing bubbles and then my buddy pulled me out of the water. The buddy is mandatory. Also any type of "breathe-up" puts a person in much greater danger than normal breathing.
Also a buddy will push you to hold your breath longer. You can sit on the couch and have contests with one another.
Study about the subject of "contractions" in freediving and breath-hold and you will start to learn about how people extend their breath-hold and how they minimize the risks.
If you remain in the world of freediving you will find that deaths are much more a part of your life than they are for the average person. Freediving is relatively quite dangerous.

Lots of spearfishermen in JA.

I see them every time I'm a 2+ KMs off short there... :D

That's why there are no fish over 7" there.
