hello,
what is the best nose clip for freediving?
keeps the water out the best etc

cheers ;)

haha Brian!

I think you have to see what fits your nose best. I have to add extra neoprene pads to get clips to stay on. I have a trygons and some paradisias. Unfortunately, I have to clamp them on to the point of pain to make them stay but oh well....

Coat your nose with rosin. This will make it very sticky and the nose clip will stay on ! You can buy rosin flux at any electronics components store (where they sell soldering equipment).

I'm using paradisia for quite some time. It's plastic, comfortable, fits good(sometimes it falls off or lets the air out) and it's easy to take off(just pull it off the nose) which i think is important for SP especially if you're in samba. I've also tried trygon noseclip few days ago and it wasn't as comfortable as paradisia, but it probably is if you get used to it or maybe i've just tightened it too much.it really fits great and doesn't fall off or let any air out and certainly looks indestructible. But its superb fit is maybe its greatest potential flaw because the removal from the nose is harder in my opinion, especially if in samba as it can't be pulled off the nose but it has to be opened. My choice would be paradisia(or look-a-like) for the pool and probably trygons for the depth(paradisia never failed me yet but i know some people whose dives were aborted because of paradisia falling off the nose during the dive)

thanks Eric, I will try that. I had to turn at VB last year due to nose clip loss-

I ahve tried paradisia and the new Performance nose clips. I have had no problemkeeping a nose clip on, but I find it impossible to ge it tight enough to cleart no-hands.
Any ideas for what to look for or do?
I have an extra layer of neoprene across the middle to help, but it wasn't enough.

trygons should do...

Hey I've got an idea - piercing are cool, right? How about a screwthread that goes right through the nose tip and has attachments that screw onto the ends and screw the nostrils shut. A kind of bionic freediver approach. You could have different colour attachments depending on your outfit, or dolphins if you follow Monsieur Mayol, or perhaps camo for the spearos.

I think it could catch on.

I like the paradisia - with some inner tube rubber to help pad it out for a better fit and a layer of chamois leather on top. It is the easiest to come off, which is a boon if you're on the edge.

rovanpera +1

Trygons is the waaaay best noseclip that I know. I have tried Paradisia, the Paradisia rip-offs and two generations of PFI noseclips and now I own a trygons and don't want anything else. Everyone who has tried or gotten one from us has confirmed this.
We have also tried them on some problem noses that hadn't found a working noseclip until they tried a trygons.

:)

sanso, is the last word of your post meant to say trygon?
Useful stuff there people thanks, i've gon-try a trygon with fluid goggles and i managed to blow air through it thus couldn't equalise properly, so perhaps i need rubber and or rosin, still need to try a paradisa tho.
Getting used to fluid goggles is also a bit weird, i really couldn't control my erratic blinking and its a bit distracting, could have been the cold 12 degree water but probably just have to get used to water in my eyes.

yeah, I think it's that cold, green water you and Joe dive in!
Try gluing a little neoprene pad to the inside of the clip to keep it from slipping

I would have to agree with Sanso on this one. Paradisia is the way to go.... :)

Although I'd like to try Trygons, I think Paradisia are cheap & easy to use noseclips. I modified mine by removing the original leather and replaced it with rubber patches cut from a weight belt, and it makes this noseclip perfect.

rofl Pffrz. What is it with breathholding! Of course it's meant to say Trygons...

Until I had the trygons, which just doesn't slip for me. I have superglued rubber from a bicycle tube onto a PFI noseclip which keeps it from slipping, if not very comfortably so. But as I said. I have found the noseclip that just works™ ;-)

I couldn't equalise against a paradisia (small nose), so have made some that fit much better. They aren't nearly as elegant as the trigons one, but much much cheaper. PM me for a pic or order.

The nosepads on my Trygons comes off every couple of times that I use it in the pool.

I re-glue it with superglue, but it's a pain and just a matter of time before I lose the pad.

Any suggestions on a better solution or where I can get some spare rubber pads (as I have lost the ones that came with it and use the stock fabric pads)
