Breathholding and breathing problems

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thanks John!
I just noticed this simple video has got nearly a million views! I really wonder why.

I like that vid :) You should sign up for the YouTube partner program, at least you can make some cash from it too Kars instead of google making everything!

After re-visiting your original post, I would also suggest you take down some notes...what time of day you practice and how you feel afterwards...post or pre-meal time, amount of sleep, etc. My best static time 7 min+ was in the morning, no breakfast, 6-7 hours of sleep, 30 minute breathe-up, 80 degree pool, etc. My worst is usually within a couple of hours of a meal or in the afternoon. I also don't practice the day before I intend to do a deep or long series of holds...seems the body needs a little "rest" from all that breathing :). Good luck and safe diving!
Hi John!

Well, I am feeling slightly better with the time! Some time had passed since my last writting. I am training 3x per week in pool, doing warmup swimming, swimming with finns, hypoxic swimming, fast swimming, 32x25 DYN (pause 15-20sec) and 8x50m DYN (pause 1:20) Sometimes I also do long dives, (about 2min), combined with slow swimming and lying on the bottom motionless. (like frog flow video)

The "heavy breathing feeling" is mostly gone or is just slight for a short period! I do the Co2 tables. I still dont feel comfortable with max. holds and longer O2 tables, so I will skipp that part for now.
Oh yeah, and I canceled my second Job and all the stress it brought to me. I am taking more time for myself, maybe this is also the key to more success...

I train mostly during the Week in the evening, after my Work. On Weekends, swimming and breatholding on a free day is easier:) I cant swimm with ampty stomach, I eat normaly 1h before pool session about 400-500Kcal.
Next week I will move on to next training plan, thanks for all god advices!

I will continue writting about any new sensations and so on....

Meanwhile, safe diving to you all!

Thank you for the wonderful report!
I'm looking forward to the next one!
Having too much stress does work on our whole bodies. Musclels are tense and exhausted, including the breathing muscles. I'm glad to hear the differences are so noticable!
One of the most valuable things freediving has taught me is to feel and listen to my body and mind. With time we can learn to feel even the very subtle of sensations. A life skill that most westeners don't learn. Enjoy it an prosper:)

Hi there, just a little comment from my side, to make an update about my situation.

I am feeling and doing good. I had once a brief breathing issue, when swimming hypocicaly 25m with very short rests. But not panicking, I overcame the problem in few minutes. I do feel occasionally some slight breathing sensation in my lungs few hours after harder workout or sometimes, when entering a warm indoor pool, but the feeling goes away just ignoring it. (Still cant say, if this is more a mind/nerve game or something else)

But in general, I feel benefits from Apnea and it brings so much fun and joy to me.
I train 4x a week in pool doing hypoxic swimming, 25m swimms with short rests (15-20sec) and 50m swimms. The contractions are almost gone when swimming 50m, they are present only in last repetitions.

I do the CO2 tables 5-6x per week and added some diaphragm negatives. But I dont exaggerate:)

I will continue posting and informing you about the situation. I have some medical checks in the near future.
We¨ll See:)

Hi there!

I am doing good, having fun with freediving.

I had recently some final tests an all were negative! I was suprised, I gained a lot in spyrometry at VC and FEV1, but dropped at FEV/FVC% for more than 10%. Now ist around 80%. But still normal.

Enjoying the summer and diving as much as possible!

I will keep posting about any new sensations,

Regards
