So how far is Telegraph Cove from Sayward?

Just heard a old guy shot a Grizz in his backyard there this weekend, paid a little to much attention to his grand daughter :martial

But remember boys and girls, No G-Bears on Van Isle

(just thought I'd give Jim yet another thing to worry about )

ummm... Sayward IS on Vancouver Island only a 150-200km south of Telegraph Cove. So, there should not have been a grizzly bear shot there... article?

is the second one shot in the north island in 3yrs seems they are moving over.

will try to dig up the article. I heard the story from buddy in Port Hardy.

Can we get those onsite? Also - to get through customs - do I need a birth certificate - or will a soc sec and drivers license do? (SALMON STAMP!!! YES!!)

You need a passport or citizenship card these days to go from Canada to the US, at least for Canadians... So, unless there some odd bias, Americans returning probably require one of those as well.

Looks like photo id and proof of residence - so, drivers license and birth cert probably.

You used to need photo ID & proof of citizenship, but in the last few months they upgraded the requirement to a passport. However, the custom official may let you through without passport, if he is nice.... at least that is how it works going from Canada to the U.S.

Dammit! People have such limited mindsets about what constitutes a 'rod' or 'angling'.

The Canadian Customs site says picture id and proof of citizenship. I'll probably need a dna test to get back in though...

Yes, getting in to Canada isn't the problem... it is getting out. That is why I didn't mention what you needed to get in. Just picked the more strict of the two. Giovanni and I went down to Seattle last weekend and were asked for proof of citizenship. Giovanni used a Canadian Citizenship card and I used a passport, to go down. Coming back we didn't show anything other than our smiles.

Hi, seems my post went missing??

I was asking if you can spearfish in fresh water in Canada? I'm looking at moving there later on. For example, can you spearfish at the Rocky Mountians?

Thanks guys.

Short answer is yes - long answer depends where. I'm sure they'll be on about it!

as it really doesn't belong in this thread

I am feeling sad and blue cause we won´t be able to do this trip. I really worked out many things to be there but. . . . . I'm facing some situations that make my trip up there not posible for this summer.

I realy hope that we can be there for the next trip.

I am pretty sure you all will have hell of a nice time up there.

Saludos

Carlos

No worries amigo, enjoy your summer. We will meet sometime, somewhere
Peace,
Erik Y.

Actually, I have had an idea for next years trip lurking around in the back of my head for a few weeks now. I will even volunteer to spearhead the 2007 DB trip.

I am thinking a South Florida trip with our warm clear blue waters, shallow reefs and wrecks, and great mix of American, Cuban, Mexican cultures. There is also an abundancy of dive boats and dive shops. South Florida is truly a meca for divers of all types, from the Keys all the way up to Palm Beach. I have access to a family 35' family runabout, and a 55' sportfish, but we would all have to cover the fuel and pay the captain.

I mentioned this possible trip to Paul Kotik (he lives in Fort Lauderdale) in an email about a month ago, so great DB photo documentation may be available.
