Hi..Thanks for the dive club responses It’s a busy time for me just now. I’m on the road in the Northern Cape and Free State at the mo and only link up to the net now and again. I’m off from Christmas to NY!! I hope to hook up with some of you then. 0762846951

Bluecape, that’s a great shot in the kelp on your site! My diving spearing mate since the 80´s is a chap called Mark Addison. He is based in Park Rynie. If you’re in the area take your camera along, he has some awesome sites and really knows the sea. Here is his site http://www.bluewilderness.co.za/ when I was last there we free dived with Tigers. (No, it’s not a macho thing! it’s quite a fantastic and humbling experience). If you’re keen let me know and Ill join you.

Dude, count me in for that schooner trip!!! I'll speak to the wife, she may come along for the ride. How deep is the North Paw reef, Will I need to work on my depth training a bit before then? Sorry for my ignorance, but where is North Paw and what sort of fish do you find there?

Alright, I think I'll start on that depth training today! That was my goal for this summer was to be able to dive 12-15m comfortably, may just have to pick up the pace a bit.:t Bellville pool here we come!

Bellville pool is only 5 or 6m mate Its nice and long though so that should help a bit.
Jim Ill give you a call over the holidays and we can hook up for a dive if you want.

Yeah, i went to check the underwater hockey yesterday. Looks pretty cool, I think I may give it a try, just gotta get a bit fitter, cos those okes look super fit!!! It's like baywatch with internal scuba tanks!rofl I also not so keen on the whole speedo thing, but I suppose that thats what it takes if you wanna get a good lung capacity.:t

Is it only open from 5-6 thats crazy, isn't it a "public pool", when do the public use it?

The hockey is from 6 and on, you dont have to wear a speedo, I play in a boardie...

lol! a speedo....do they even still exist?! damn thats crazy...thought that torture was illegal!

Hiya Swedish Jim. Thanks, know blue Wilderness well, although I have'nt dived there yet. A good mate of mark's, Roger Horrocks, took the pic of me in the kelp, he's done some amazing photo's with mark at 'the shark park' as well.

Faizy, depth is 21.5 on the sand at North paw, maybe 22, but the reef runs from abouve the surface, and has a few levels, so wherever you feel comfortable.
Hotties depends on the day, i've have days with 5 dives and 5 big Hotties, and days where you see nothing but juvenilles. depends on the water temperature I guess, and whats been happening in the hours preceding our arrival, IE seal activity etc. Have seen big hotties on the sand at the bottom in schools of 10-15 at times, so it's the luck of the draw.

22m at the bottom! woah! i think im gna be sticking to the 15m mark! you youngsters with big lung capacities hey! blerrie hell!

Morning chaps! Lenny sorry mate, my new cell is 074 914 4228 ; Anybody heading up the West Coast this long weekend? Going so saldanha and surrounds to (try) and slag myself some blacktails - hoping for some decent kreefies as well....although the westerly tendencies might make for some unpleasant conditions - hope not!

Lenny apparently there is a sign up at soetwater that says no diving of any kind whatsover? (heard from a Scarbourough resident)
