Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
We should start organising something then, maybe in one of the months with less wind, February March perhaps, those 2 normally has good weather and maybe in a place where we can light a fire and have a few beers afterwards. Didnt know about Jeff being based in the waterfront, I only heard about it from one of the guys at our club. So Ill find out tonight who it was he was speaking about :)

ag sanso jump on a plane and come down to CT, the euro is kicking ass against the rand, we can go dive and after that we can swap some tips editing cronjobs and setting up poper log rotation :)

Hey all you Capies, let us know when your planning that little get together shindig, it would be nice to meet you guys especially since I'll be coming back home sometime this year! I might just have to go awol for a while and come down to the Cape for a bit of a break from the studies.

Heheh, :) can do. I think I'll stay tuned to this thread for the date of Your meet-up down there.
Just in case, where would be the best place to stay and how many €€ would I have to calculate per day?

Hey congrats covert, so your diving will be cut short for a while a month hence ;) . Sanso it depends on how much you want to spend and how much wine you wana take back home with you. Remember to bring sunscreen though, we dont want you lookin like a tomato on your first day  our sun is kinda harsh on soft european skin Ive seen it a thousand times and every time it looks kinda sore but yet strangely humourous rofl

rofl rofl Or a good day if they spend it in a place like Mosselbay or Clifton rofl rofl . You see them the next day covered in sunscreen, so bad you see the white residue, but somehow the red still dominates at the end. Shame, it must hurt like all hell come to think of it :) Just wish I had a pic somewhere though

yes! sanso, come to CT!
if covert's pooh-blanket scares you :)
you can get great accommodation close to the water on either the atlantic
or indian ocean side for under 20€ a day at decent backpackers,
or for around 30- 40€ a day for really nice B&B's.
living and eating and being merry won't cost you more than 20- 50€ a day...
depending on your consumption :)
anyway, as the guys said, we can always lend a hand with getting you sorted, we're famous for our hospitality, wines and sharks... !

Winnie! Yay! Sounds excellent! I'd much prefer staying with You people :D
Well, even if this meet-up shouldn't work out for some reason - Mrs and I have a history of taking in stray travellers, so if any of You ever head towards central Europe (say, southern Germany, the north of Switzerland, western Austria, ...), we'll be happy to offer You our spare bedroom (or whatever we will be able to spare at the time).

And, yes, the crayfish-effect I know well - the english/british tend to perform that trick for us here :t The sun's not too bad in southern Germany, but still enough for some well-done-looking islanders to roam the lakeshore in the summer :D

So, let's look at the available dates for this..

Hi All

As Hanli mentioned, we are moving on a nice group in the Cape Area, so we need to get contact details for all the interested people. I already have Covert's details, but anyone else from the area can PM me their e-mail addresses and I will include you on our list.
Hanli has worked, and still works, with some top people in freediving in Sweden, so she has been a huge asset to have in Cape Town, so do'nt let up on this opportunity!

Jeff :D

Haha, just read thru all the posts! :D I am the 'guy from the waterfront' indeed, basically the scene is as follows. I have access to a 54 ft Schooner called Esperance, we can motor to Clifton's North Paw, a nice little reef off Clifton beach, and throw anchor in about 22m of water. We dive, sun tan, chill out, shoot a few fish, braai them on the boat, and cruise back. trip is about 3 hours, 9 am -12 pm, but we need clean, flat sea. Cost depends on how many divers we get aboard, but usually about R 200-R300 pp for the morning. Lets arrange a DB'ers trip!

Jeff

:) Sorry Jeff didnt know, but now that we know who the 'guy from the waterfront is' Im game too and Im sure a few others lurking in the shadows here will be game too. It sounds like a very promising experience. All we need now is a few more interested parties a date that suits all of em and the ocean... Will pm you my details as soon as my internets running more smoothly
