Howzit all, was wanting to go for a shorie tomorrow but with sw winds of 45+km in most plases I doubt it, anybody have any ideas? With winds like that and a swell of 4m+ I doubt therel be anything tomorrow.
im going to rest for a week or so with my cracked ribs, but ill give you a call and then we can see what we can arrange, DT might also be interested i think.
For sure Im interested, just looking at windfinder, doesnt look good was thinking of somewhere closer to home than paternoster or langebaan... O well so much for that idea...
Rooiels area looks like a possibility, a nw close to shore, with a wsw coming from cape point side, maybe the two semi oposing directions would do some good think Ill take a drive out there and see whats up, maybe one of the coves will be nice and quiet 
It will be a bit later during the day anyways, I need to get to Louis before I can go diving again and there mite be people in the mornin comin to fix our floor, so Im thinking a afternoon dive...

Sorry for being so slack. Just been a very busy couple of days for me!! Will make amends, but not now, as i'm getting ready to go again tommorow......
Been to sea this last week, when most mortals were sane enough to stay indoors!:head Was pleasantly surprised by 50m+ viz and 25 degrees water and some YF tuna. Once again found schools of yellowtail, longfin and skipjack and even small Yellowfin about 4-5nm behind Bellows. These fish are well with-in the range of most spearo's boats, so it might be worth a look. VERY, VERY often, you'll find cleaner water just outside Bellows, and a dud day can be averted!! For the record, i've speared a 25kg YF at Bellows and have caught YF up to 70kg's a mile or two behind bellows. I know of a 90kg YF that was taken last year at Bellows and have seen what i believe to be a striped Marlin in the same area!! I know that Tommy also saw a Marlin here!! Pretty simple directions, run on a course of 250 degrees from Cape Point, until you're a few miles offshore, where the waters colour changes to CLEAN, WARM BLUE water!! Have fun!!

Miles, do you chum up the YF or do you use other means to lure them closer. Or are you diving on pinnacles in the area there, being a few nm from bellows I cant really see that there will be any diveable pinnacles (within depth I mean) and yet I would not really want to chum there either, waayyy to close to shore still for the big GWS to come have a look at whats smelling so yummy. Flashers perhaps???

Water is 50m+ deep, with no pinnacles that i know of. You'll normally be chasing birds working on schools of baitfish, that are chased up by predators. Flashers and chumming will definitely work. Easiest is to see which way the birds are working and try to get the boat to drop you in front of them and then slowly swim towards the action. Pretty much like you'd do it at Dassen Island.
Alternatively, dive on the current line. Almost always some fish on the current line.
When the water is clean and blue and over 18 degrees, you're VERY likely to get some big class Yellowfins, so have a decent floatline system!!
Sharks. VERY unlikely to bump into a GWS that far offshore. They seem to prefer closer to shore, shallower water haunts. Same as in Struisbaai, i've never heard of anyone getting a GWS on the 12mile Bank. Besides, in clean 20m+ viz, you tend to be fearless......
