Besides getting to swim for a couple times in a river and some lakes in my country, I am pretty much starting from absolute zero in this: freediving

over several years ive gained an odd amount of interest in it, to the point that i am considering going to live abroad somewhere with at least all-year round warm weather and easy access to the ocean, besides just wanting to be able to reach the floor of somewhere deep and stay there for a while without having to wear any gear beyond a mask, i am banking on the activity as a way to keep myself healthy and physically fit, naturally this would also demand that i'd eat a healthier diet overall and keep me from becoming a blob of meat, am also wondering if i could make friends with this, maybe even possibly build a close relationship with a freediver girl of a similar mind

at first i was looking into the possibility of living in the southern parts of japan, the winters there rarely reach below zero, and the whole place being an island i could travel to other sections easily to take a dip in places i havent been at, the problem though is the cost, given what jobs i am likely to get there (if any at all since i am only about to get a hs diploma and nothing else while being 19) my life would become only about work and nothing else, trying to nickel and dime even on the cheapest of rents in rural areas

right now i don't really have an idea of where to go or what i need to do, anywhere else seems to be like asking for a bad time if i am to factor in cost of living with job opportunities, maybe am making a mistake? is this just me chasing a wild temporary dream that would still end badly even if things did go right?

I am new to Freediving but I live in the best spot for it and have already started exploring the kelp forest in front of my house at Boulder Beach, Cape Town

When choosing a place to live with freediving in mind, consider locations that offer easy access to clear, deep waters and a thriving freediving community. Coastal areas with warm climates, such as Florida, Hawaii, or Southern California, provide ideal conditions for year-round diving. Proximity to established freediving spots, underwater attractions, and training centers can enhance your diving experience and opportunities for skill development. Additionally, maintaining a clean and healthy living environment is crucial, and for those needing professional cleaning services, https://www.blinkfacilitysolutions.com/ offers top-notch solutions to ensure your home is always in pristine condition, allowing you to focus on your freediving adventures.

You will not find an affordable place with a good job market and good freediving. Prepare to compromise. Azores are inexpensive but seasonal. Job market ranges from bad to non-existent depending on the island. Canary islands offer all year diving and a reasonable cost but the job market is tight. Also look into Greece/Turkey. I would suggest to get into IT and secure a remote job that pays close to a minimum in the industry so it would be stupid to fire you. After that there are plenty of places where you will be OK financially and can dive a lot

When choosing a place to live with freediving in mind, proximity to suitable diving locations is crucial. Coastal regions with clear waters and diverse marine life often make ideal choices. Accessibility to certified diving centers, safety considerations, and community support for water sports are also important factors. Additionally, amenities such as gear rental services, underwater photography opportunities, and nearby facilities for training and competitions can enhance the freediving experience. Whether it's exploring coral reefs, underwater caves, or encountering marine wildlife, selecting a location that aligns with your freediving aspirations ensures an enriching lifestyle.

Freediving is a fascinating hobby and a great way to connect with the underwater world. The fact that you think about your health and fitness within this hobby is admirable. :shy:

I decided to highlight my ideas point by point for you, well

1. Start locally:

Many places offer freediving certification, even in freshwater environments like lakes and rivers. Getting certified is a great way to learn safety and proper diving techniques under the guidance of qualified instructors. You can find courses online or contact local dive stores or schools.

2. Consider remote work:

The rise of best remote jobs opens up opportunities to live in more affordable locations while maintaining a steady income. Look for remote work that matches your skills and interests. There are many websites and resources dedicated to remote work.

3. Plan and prioritize:

Break your dream into smaller, more achievable goals. Focus on getting certified first, and then plan trips to freediving destinations as your skills and budget allow.

Explore economical travel options: Look for budget travel options such as hostels or alternative accommodations. This way you will try different places to stay and find the best for your comfort.;)

You might consider remote work to fund your freediving dreams. It can give you the flexibility to live somewhere affordable with warm weather and ocean access, like Southeast Asia or parts of Central America. This way, you can earn a decent income and enjoy the lifestyle you want. Chasing your passion is never a mistake if it improves your well-being!
