Hey

This is for PAV and everyone else that has asked about the Camera mount for my speargun.

Its for the cressi comanche

Its made of nylon block.

theres 2 holes on the bracket to screw the extended arm into, which eliminates any possible unwanted movement.

when you dont want the camera mounted to the gun just unscrew and leave the white bracket on.

Very simple and took about 5 minutes to make.

The thing I like about it is when I upgrade camera's I can just make another arm to screw into the bracket to fit the camera.

Nice and neat Scott. I have a stainless mount for mine which is more fiddly but it works for the Ikelite case I use (two mounting bolts). I'm off out now but i'll post some pics this evening when I return.

Ben

Very tidy! Thanks for taking the time to post photos.

I am assuming the mount is fixed to the gun by drilling pilot holes and using self tapping screws?

Right then!

This is what I use for a twin screw Ikelite case. The camera overall is very bulky but surprisingly balanced when mounted on the gun (and underwater) - more luck than good judgement...

See what you think, definately not as neat as Scotts set up but it works.

Only a couple Scott - my diving this year seemed to coincide with the awful weather (that'll be all summer then!). I'm sure you have seen this one:

Not at all mate the screws came standard with the gun

Yes! , I think the original fittings are for line. Good use of exsisting fixture.

Also nice alternative with the U type bracket from fearthespear.

I will be building mine soon and post the results. I like the idea of building a bracket that you can attatch different arms to. I would like the option to fit small 2nd dive light on the gun as an alternative to a camera.

Scott - how did you make the mount. Its the gun mount itself I am interested in - the bit that goes round the barrel - do you have access to a large milling machine? Did you use a conventional drill with something like a hole cutting bit? Cheers,

James

Hi James

I drilled the block with a hole saw then cut the outer shape on a band saw at work. Im working on a neater version so you are more then welcome to the one in the pictures.

Ahh - now I'm with you - thanks for that. And thanks for the offer - but I use a funny shaped gun I made myself so I will use your ideas but have to make the cutout a bit more specific. cheers James

WOW!!!!!! you Made your own gun

Man it must be pretty cool to catch fish on a gun you made yourself instead of a stock gun ( not that theres anything wrong with stock guns)

Any Pictures ?

are you ordering the Acrylic Block, or salvaging it from elsewhere?

My experince of Acrylic is its a bit brittle.

We use them at work, hard as nails and a pain to cut but near enough bullet proof so not brittle at all

Sure I'll dig some out - I took my inspiration from Ed (Portinfer) who posted a couple of years ago on how he made his own teak 88 gun - I met up with him out in Jersey in 2007 - his gun is a slightly finer thing than mine (mine's more agricultural!!) but mine is very functional, I'm very used to it now.

Im working on a polespear at the moment which wont take long ( simple but I want it to look good ) and the thought of making a gun definitely has my attention.

I know theres some very good threads on here about gun making which is always good.

Having said that what ever happened to the "great gun build" from last year ?

Here are some pics of my gun. I made it 2-3 years ago and have used it ever since. Made of 5 laminates of teak, Totemsub rigging, devoto spears. Check out the threads from Portinfer from about 2 years ago.

Thanks mate - took me quite alot of time - unlike Ed and Dave I only had a Black&Decker workmate and a borrowed hand router (not table mounted.)

But I enjoyed the build project alot. I also made a Teak 110cm again inspired by the Totemsub guns. I made that gun over a year ago - but have never used it - too long and heavy for most of my fishing - but next year...
